OUTCOME: Case against my client dismissed.

In this case we defended our client against allegations of trade secret misappropriation. The plaintiff initiated a lawsuit against my client for misappropriation of trade secrets and attempted misapp ... ropriation of trade secrets. The plaintiff also sought temporary restraints against my client, which the Court initially granted, and also sought a preliminary injunction against my client. We responded by opposing the request for an injunction and moving to dismiss the complaint, as well as by filing a separate action in an administrative agency that had appropriate jurisdiction over the case. The Court granted our motion to dismiss, dissolved the temporary restraints, and denied the plaintiff's request for a preliminary injunction.

OUTCOME: Case against my client dismissed. Prevailed on most counterclaims.

We represented the Defendant. Teaneck sued our client and requested that the Court bar our client from filing future OPRA requests with Teaneck. Teaneck also sought a preliminary injunction. We file ... d a counterclaim for denial of access to records and opposed the request for an injunction. The Court denied Teaneck's request for a preliminary injunction. Most of our counterclaims were resolved favorably to our client. (This matter is currently under appeal).

Supreme Court held that Fire District was required to produce to our client records that were in the custody of the Millstone Valley Fire Department, over their objections.

Correa v. City of Jersey City

OUTCOME: The Trial Court held that all ticket data was subject to disclosure.

Our client sought access to the names and addresses and locations of parking tickets and moving violations. Jersey City denied access and attempted to charge a fee for access to some of the data.

Plaintiff sought copies of internal email correspondence regarding several topics within the charter school.

Renna v. The County of Union, Docket No. 2:11-3328 (KM)(MAH)

OUTCOME: The Court held that Ms. Renna could use the Seal and awarded prevailing party attorneys fees.

Here, we sued Union County in Federal Court because they had issued a cease and desist letter to our client, Ms. Renna, ordering her to stop using the Union County Seal in her television program. The ... County claimed the Seal was trademarked and could not be used without the County's consent. The Court disagreed, and held that the Seal had no trademark protection and could be used by Ms. Renna. We were co-counsel with The Rutherford Institute and F. Michael Daily, Esq.

Bolkin v. Borough of Fair Lawn

OUTCOME: On appeal, the Appellate Division affirmed the order of disclosure.

Our client requested the names and addresses of all licensed pet owners in the Borough. The Borough denied the request, and the Trial Court ordered disclosure.
