I owe my freedom and life prospects to Mark

I retained Mark’s services after being suspended from college for theft. At the time, I had just (stupidly!) given a full confession to school detectives after they served a search warrant; as someone with zero criminal past, I was terrified of the prospect of a felony record. Even a misdemeanor thef...t record would be a career killer. I searched for a lawyer with a strong track record of defending college students, and found Mark from his website. From the start, Mark was entirely forthcoming about the range of outcomes and his defense plan. He made it clear he would strive for nothing less than a full dismissal of charges, and he dispelled the police lies that I believed- that I wouldn’t be arrested and charged, they just wanted the property back, etc.- and immediately put me in addiction counseling, GA, and classes, to build my defense. He notified me when my arrest warrant, charging me with 7 class B and C felonies, was issued and negotiated zero bond with the prosecutor. Not only did he walk me into jail, but he wrote his phone number on a dollar bill he gave to me. He meticulously analyzed every prosecutorial document- the warrant affidavit, police reports, and discovery file, taking no chances and leaving no stone unturned. Throughout the months of uncertainty and angst, he patiently answered all my questions promptly and in detail; he expertly managed my expectations and never judged me. Mark perfectly executed every aspect of my defense. His team produced an incredibly flattering memo (the judge specifically commended Mark for the quality of the memo), reflecting my accomplishments in high school and college, and carefully vetted character reference letters and one from my counselor. Every detail, such as my log of GA attendance, was reviewed. Every next step was mapped out weeks in advance. His experience showed in his poise in court and in his relationships with the local prosecutor and cops. Many lawyers are intelligent, but Mark is exceptionally sharp and perceptive. Going into my final court hearing, I was incredibly nervous, but Mark was calm and confident, very much the consummate professional. Ultimately, Mark hit a grand slam: FULL dismissal of 7 felony charges, one-year probation, no court mandated counseling, and a restitution amount less than half of what the state sought. He delivered the absolute best possible outcome I could’ve hoped for, a testament to his planning, detail orientation, expertise, and sterling negotiating skills. To get the best outcome, the quality of your legal representation matters as much as the merits of your case; the difference between hiring a any lawyer (forget about a public defender) versus Mark is the difference between getting a misdemeanor plea deal versus getting a full dismissal. I trusted my freedom and future to Mark, I could not have placed them in better hands. Retain the best, retain Mark.

More than we hoped for

We found ourselves in need of a lawyer for our 16-year old son. We called Mark on Friday and met with him on Sunday morning. By then he had obtained all the information he could get from the police and was fully up to speed. He spoke with us and then with our son, "R," alone and listened to everythin...g carefully. He detailed his expectations of what would happen. He outlined the possible outcomes so that we were fully prepared for the worst. However, he fully expected the best and he was right. He helped us navigate the system and explained why certain decisions would be better than others. He treated our son with respect and concern but was also quite firm in what would happen if R didn't cooperate or messed up again. He advocated for our son in a way that acknowledged his mistakes but also demonstrated that one (major!) mistake wouldn't ruin his life. He expects R to get through this terrible chapter, put it behind him, go to college, have a job and a family, and this doesn't have to follow or define him. He gave us hope when we had none, but, again warned that R needs to keep on the straight and narrow forever. His fees were straightforward and reasonable and we were never hit with extra charges. Mark made a life-changing, extraordinarily difficult time manageable and gave us and our son hope when it seemed like there was none. He delivered on the best possible scenario and we are eternally grateful. Before saying goodbye, Mark made sure all of us could reach him and, honestly, we know we can count on him but hope we'll never need to again.

positive result for teenager

My teenage son received a citation from the Darien police for under age possession of alcohol. Several of my friends in the legal community including a retired judge suggested we speak with Mark before paying the ticket. Mark immediately responded to my call and set up a meeting where he clearly art...iculated the consequences of pleading guilty and paying the fine. These included a suspension of my son’s driver’s license and a record of the offense which can show up on background checks for up to seven years. This can impact potential employment and raise insurance costs. After the consultation we hired Mark to represent our son. He was able to work with the State’s Attorney to drop the citation in exchange for community service and attendance of a MADD seminar. Mark communicated with us during every step of the process. Mark got a positive result and my son learned a valuable lesson.

CT Fake ID Case Dismissed

I was arrested in New Caanan for a fake id that was found in my wallet during a search of my friend's car. Soon after the arrest, I was looking online for what to do and came across Mr. Sherman's page. I called his office and they returned my call soon after. Mark was a great help to me and my family... at this difficult time. He answers any questions you may have at any time, checks in and he's very honest to his cilents. He was able to have my class d felony (forgery 2nd) dropped down to a misdemeanor and then the case was dismissed and expunged after 25 hours of community service. The process was long but definitely 10x better because of Mark's help. Mark takes into account who you are as a person and fights for the best result. I was going into my senior year of college at the time this happened and Mark made decisions based on my future (like not being flagged for a felony when filling out job applications) and came out with the best result. I'm very grateful for what Mark did for me and anyone who is in need of legal help should consult with Mark Sherman.

Fairfield County, CT

After our 16 year old son was at risk of being charged with assault in an incident with three other minor teens, we were referred to Mark Sherman by a relative in a neighboring town who is in law enforcement. He assured us it would be the ONLY representation we would need. He was right on. Mark Sh...erman was able to get the assault investigation dismissed with no arrest or charges of any kind. He is thorough, was constantly accessible via his cell phone to my son for any questions or anguish he could be facing at school or on social media between the other teens involved. He encouraged my son to be truthful and honest about everything that happened in the incident. We are eternally grateful for him and his services.
