A Top Lawyer.... for real

We engaged Attorney Sherman on behalf of our daughter in February 2013 when she was 22. At the time she faced two additional arrests (disorderly conduct, assault 3rd degree, risk of injury to a child; breach of peace, hindering prosecution) which occurred one month shy of her completion of a two ye...ar Accelerated Rehabilitation Program. She had been granted an “Accelerated Rehabilitation Program” for four arrests she had accumulated over the previous six years (since 2007) while attending Greenwich High School. All of these arrests were for a variety of “ fighting incidents” while attempting to attend that High School. We had engaged top lawyers in the area to fight these charges, which resulted in the AR program but for a variety of reasons could not use them for the 2013 charges. Our daughter’s situation was very complex, so we needed a lawyer who could understand her issues and advocate on her behalf. This meant that they needed to educate the prosecutors and judges as well as advocate on her behalf. You see, my daughter was borderline intellectually disabled, bipolar, transgender and suffering from extreme anxiety and depression. At the time of the February 2013 arrests, she had just completed reassignment surgery and was in the midst of a six -week recovery from that surgery. Her name had changed during the six year time period, which also challenged the record keeping for the Courts. My husband and son are corporate lawyers admitted to practice in New York so we could easily do (and did) a lot of research on potential lawyers. A friend had recently become a Judge in Stamford and while he/she could not recommend a lawyer, they confirmed that Mark Sherman should be on the list of those we should consider. The initial interview with Attorney Sherman confirmed the choice. Mark quickly assessed the situation, had confidence in the strategy he would pursue and even recommended a psychiatrist and therapist to support my daughter. He was successful in getting a two-year “Supervised Diversionary Program” for my daughter. However, about one year into the program and on her 25th birthday, she was arrested by the Greenwich Police for a DUI (marijuana, no alcohol). The probation officer and Attorney Sherman were successful in allowing her to complete the “Supervised Diversionary Program “ without violation. He was also able to get a probation approved for the DUI. It has been a total of 9 years since her involvement with the Courts but I am pleased to report that she now has a clean record thanks to Attorney Sherman and his very competent Staff who paid attention to the details and kept us informed every step of the way. Our entire family highly recommends the Law Offices of Mark Sherman, LLC. THANK YOU!

DIU Case handled By Mark

Never been in the situation before I just looked up an attorney with good reviews. I found Mark and put in some information. He returned my call within an hour on 4th of July weekend. He stayed on the phone with me for a bit and put my mind at ease that he could help and he did. My case has been... dismissed. Thanks mark for the help.

An Excellent Practioner

There I was one evening, in a parking lot in Stamford Ct. calling the police as I was verbally threatened and physically intimidated . Imagine my surprise, when the incident ended with me in the back of a police SUV, cuffed and charged with Breach of Peace! I explained to the three officers wh...at occurred and they questioned the assailant. ( I have never been arrested as I am fast approaching 60 years of age) . I understand it's my word against his and there were no witnesses , however it was explained to me by the police that I could let it go and walk away or we would both be arrested!. Talk about a real time civics lesson, I mean really, who expects to get arrested for calling the police for a legitimate reason? I guess 99.9% of people would walk away, but I wanted satisfaction and honestly thought the police were bluffing. I went all in , and was arrested for breach and the other guy for breach of the peace and threatening, so I felt for the moment I got some measure of satisfaction that he got hit with 2 charges Like I said, I'm a solid citizen who was cuffed, finger printed and they took my mug shot all for a Class B misdemeanor. Now you have the story. I am from out of state and don't know any Connecticut lawyers so I went online. Attorney Sherman's website was my first hit and I liked the way he explained (I am quoting his website word for word) how "Breach of Peace" , " is frequently charged In Connecticut. It is a broadly applied, catch - all criminal charge:" Defining, what to me was a complex issue with a simple explanation, put my mind at ease and indicated to me Attorney Sherman probably deals with these in his sleep, at least I hoped so. I called him as early as 7 A.M. the next morning and I was delighted he called back rather quickly, which given my anxiety level was important to me. I saw him later in the day and hired him. We went thru the details of what happened and he said (subject to seeing the police report ) that ultimately" this charge would go away". He got the police report as soon as it was available (can take several days) . Now he had all the facts and he explained to me the various range of outcomes from "Nolle" to the dreaded 6 months in jail I was overly paranoid about despite the fact that he assured me my worst case scenario would be to take a diversionary program which keeps you out of jail. He also said we are not going to burn an "AR" on this! Clearly Attorney Sherman knew his stuff, he articulated the issues well. However, and this is why I mention my irrational paranoia, because I needed more than just an attorney. I needed some emotional support, some "hand holding". I have never been arrested, let alone for committing NO crime, so you can imagine my anxiety was thru the roof. I called Mark several times asking all kinds of questions. He always returned my calls, he spoke to my wife, he was always patient and supportive. My case was not dismissed after my first appearance . Sitting in the courthouse conference room after that first appearance I felt like Dr. Thorndike on the elevator in the movie High Anxiety. Next appearance was 3 weeks later and in that time I read more about breach of peace than I care to admit which only made more nervous. Fortunately as Mark indicated was likely, the case was Nolled. If something like this happens to you, don't call the police, go to the police station and make the complaint. Bottom line, I wholeheartedly recommend Attorney Sherman, he's a excellent lawyer and psychologist as well, LOL.

Interference with a police officer during a traffic stop - Danbury Superior Court

After my arrest for interference with a police officer during a traffic stop I was immediately referred to the The Law Offices of Mark Sherman. Attorney Sherman and his staff were responsive and knowledgeable. This was the first time I had ever been arrested and Mark Sherman was there protecting ...me and explaining what was occurring every step of the way. Attorney Sherman had my court date in Danbury Superior Court moved up and worked hard to have the charges nolled without my having to enter into the Accelerated Rehabilitation program. The outcome he achieved provided a great sense of relief for my family and I. I am extremely grateful to the law offices of Mark Sherman for the outstanding job they did, the compassion they showed during this stressful time and the way they made me feel as though my case was as important to them as it was to me. Life Changing

I am a 20 years old "A" Student, Athlete who loves his family. Without bad intentions, I made a poor decision that could have negatively impacted the rest of my life. We hired Mr. Sherman who was immediately available to explain to me the situation and his action plan. The result was that a week ...later, the case was dismissed to everybody's relief. It was a life changing moment for me, and for our whole family. A different result would have been terrible for every one. I never give recommendations for services rendered , but I have to with Mr. Sherman. If you or one of your loved ones are in trouble, he is the one to call. Good luck.
