Family Trust

Mr. McCann provided my wife and I legal consultation associated with the preparation of a family trust, last will and testament, health directive, and estate planning. Though we entered into these meetings feeling that we were well versed, and well prepared, Mr. McCann presented us with a series of ...thought-provoking questions that assisted us in identifying a number of important issues that we had not previously considered. His communication skills were excellent and his attention to detail was impressive. He clearly has a strong grasp of the subject matter. We felt confident in his guidance and that he was genuinely working toward our best interest. We would not hesitate to continue doing business with Mr. McCann or to recommend him to our friends. All-in-all, a very positive experience.

A reprimand is an order from the Statewide Grievance Committee after it has found that an attorney has engaged in ethical misconduct. If an attorney receives more than 3 reprimands in 5 years, a presentment must be filed against the attorney so the Superior Court can decide if more serious discipline should be ordered.

John’s comment:

“During the process of joining a more established firm, I was reprimanded for not following up sufficiently with a former client, who was having difficulty collecting on a note that I had prepared for him. At the time the note was executed I advised him that without collateral it would be difficult to enforce. I should have put these concerns in writing, but did not, and as a result I felt the reprimand was justified. Since then I have learned from this experience and grown as a person.”

A condition is a disciplinary order from the Statewide Grievance Committee that an attorney fulfill a condition within a certain time frame. If the attorney does not fulfill a condition in a timely manner, the Superior Court may also impose any condition necessary to protect the public.
