Attorney Gabrielle L. Denby represents clients in all areas of Domestic Relations and Probate Litigation, and LGBTQ/Non-Traditional Law.
While Gabrielle is a trial attorney and zealously represents clients in litigating complex and high net-worth divorce, modification, contempt, custody, and paternity/parentage actions, she always aims to avoid unnecessary and costly litigation. Gabrielle is a strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and collaboration, and consequently, enters each case with the mindset of a negotiator so as to assist her clients in obtaining a settlement.
Gabrielle provides superior legal service not only to traditional families, but also to non-traditional families and the LGBTQ community. She comes to the field of law, not only with an appreciation of how difficult and emotionally draining litigating a traditional domestic relations action can be, but also with an acute understanding of the many sensitive, unique, and complex issues that arise for LGBTQ individuals and families.
As Gabrielle aims to maintain a practice that represents all types of families, she recognizes that many individuals are in critical need of legal assistance, but often cannot afford such representation. Consequently, she is involved in the Family Law Project of the Women’s Bar Foundation, where she represents survivors of Domestic Violence on a pro bono basis.
Gabrielle has been recognized as a “Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star” in the area of family law every year since 2016. Only 2.5% of lawyers under the age of 40 are selected for this list, which is published annually by Thomson Reuters rating service in Boston Magazine.
In 2016, 2017 & 2018, Gabrielle was listed by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys as “10 Best” in the Attorney category of Client Satisfaction. Additionally, in 2016 ,2017 & 2018, The American Institute of Family Law Attorneys listed The Denby Law P.C as “10 Best Law Firms” within the Firm category of Client Satisfaction.
Additionally, Gabrielle is rated as “Superb" by AVVO-10/10, a website that provides lawyer rating and other legal resources. In 2017 Gabrielle was listed by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys as within the top 10 attorneys under 40 in Massachusetts.
Gabrielle graduated Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College (2008), holds a Masters in Political Science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University (2010), and received her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School (2013). Gabrielle was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2013.
Gabrielle is an active member in the community and is particularly involved in cancer education and self-advocacy. As a survivor herself, Gabrielle has and continues to work with several organizations both in a fund raising capacity, and as a speaker and panelist.
Gabrielle also volunteers her time as an Attorney Coach for the Canton High School Mock Trial Team, which competes in the annual Massachusetts Bar Association High School Mock Trial Competition. For the 2015-2016 Annual Competition, Canton High School made it to the Final 4, out of 136 teams throughout Massachusetts; and for the 2016-2017 Annual Competition, Canton High School made it to the Elite 8.

I would love to say you get what you pay for, but that is not true.
Wasted money more than $50k, no results had to switch to another attorney to handle my case. During conciliation she had nothing to say, tried to get me to agree to the worse possible deal, the tradeoff, I was free to work as much as I wanted, and the figure would not go up. That's not what any fath...

Very dissatisfied
Talked the talk but couldn’t walk the walk. Very intimidated by basically a real estate lawyer. It cost me a ton of $$ to get nothing. No fight at all. Backed down when confronted by a man is the only way I can say it. Denby is only in the game to make money. She didn’t fight for my sons rights and h...
Robert, You have the wrong attorney. I have never had a case with facts similar to those you describe here- those being children and grandchildren issues in the same case. That would be a very unique set of circumstances, which I would certainly remember. I recommend that you speak directly to your attorney to discuss your concerns as that would be the best way to obtain the answers you need. Notwithstanding the same, I am very sorry to hear about what was clearly a terrible experience. Best Regards,

Highly Recommended Divorce Advocate
Divorce can require people to fight for a fair result even when fighting is not in their nature. When children are involved it can require parents to compromise and work together, just as they've decided that they can't and never will be able to agree. Gabrielle was both a forceful advocate and a ...

"I had the pleasure of first meeting Gabrielle Denby in law school when she was my fellow classmate in an ADR/Mediation course. She immediately stood out as a strong mediator and negotiator. I recently reconnected with Gabrielle at the Women's Bar Association Pro Bono Family Law Project for Battered Women. Since reconnecting, Gabrielle has served as a constant resource and mentor to me as I take on my first pro bono case. Her experience as a clerk for Judge Kagan has given her an extensive knowledge of all aspects of Massachusetts family law. Now as the founder and partner of her own law firm, Gabrielle continues to stand out as a leader in her field. I look forward to seeing her career grow and flourish"
