A Massachusetts native with deep roots in the community, Attorney P. Tyler Summers litigates and mediates family law matters for clients throughout Greater Boston. His boutique practice focuses exclusively in divorce, child custody, property division, alimony, child support, paternity, relocation / removal, parenting time, post-divorce modification, enforcement / contempt, and domestic violence actions.
In addition to his litigation practice, Attorney Summers regularly drafts, reviews, and negotiates prenuptial agreements, working to protect clients' interests before marriage. He has also developed a niche consulting with members of the LGBTQ community, a group that faces unique issues in family law. Highly regarded by his peers, Attorney Summers has received a "Superb" rating from Avvo, was named a "Top 10 Best Attorney for Client Satisfaction" by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, and was voted a Super Lawyer Rising Star, an honor reserved for only 2.5% of attorneys in the state.
Attorney Summers founded his practice in 2015 to provide state-of-the-art and compassionate representation to individuals in crisis and/or major life transitions. Before establishing his own firm, Attorney Summers honed his litigation and client management skills at a prominent domestic relations firm. Prior, he clerked for judges at multiple levels of the state's trial courts. At the federal court in Boston, he gained exposure to high-profile matters requiring media savvy and the utmost sensitivity, including the criminal cases against the Marathon bomber and mobster James "Whitey" Bulger.
Attorney Summers holds a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and political science from New York University. He received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, the international legal honor society. While in law school, Attorney Summers was certified to represent the government in criminal matters, and to represent indigent litigants in the Probate and Family Court, where he successfully handled high-conflict divorce and child custody matters. He is admitted to practice before all Massachusetts state and federal courts, including the Supreme Judicial Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
A former co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar Association, Attorney Summers is an active participant in several other legal organizations, including the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations. He is also involved with various nonprofit organizations, including Fenway Health and The Lenny Zakim Fund.
