I have been a Boston-area litigator and trial lawyer since 1997.  I act as outside general counsel to Massachusetts businesses.  I also assist minority and majority owners of close corporations, family businesses, limited liability companies and similar business entities regarding disputes such as freeze outs, hiring and firing and monetary disputes.  I spend my free time playing pick-up basketball and flag football and doing outdoor activities with my wife and two young daughers, including biking, hiking and going to the beach.

A true partner in the legal process.
After facing a very difficult and discriminatory work environment, I was put in a position where I needed to retain representation to negotiate a settlement with my former employer. Adam was kind and professional, always stating all options - even those that were not in his own best interest, monetarily - for me to consider. Given that all of this began in conjunction with the global pandemic, I assumed there would be delays or even the likelihood that the process would stall. Adam stayed vigilant on my behalf and we settled for an amount six times of the initial offer, and were able to do so with a training requirement for the organization. Not only did Adam make a daunting and unfamiliar process go smoothly, but he advocated for my rights every step of the way, continuing to push for what we agreed on, together. While I hope I do not have to retain his professional services again, I do know that if you're looking for someone to represent you in a claim, you'll be glad you have Adam in your corner.

Shareholder & Stock Purchase Agreements
Adam represented me in my purchase of a stake in an existing business. He did a thorough job of asking me questions about the company and my prospective business partners. He then reviewed the proposed Shareholder Agreement and Stock Purchase Agreement. He pointed out all of my potential areas of concern (which were both numerous and significant as a minority shareholder) and consulted me on them. After our discussions, Adam crafted language that effectively represented my interests, but that was in line with the sensibilities of the other parties involved. He made sure that I did not expose myself and my family to any unreasonable risk, and balanced that with my desire to negotiate with my prospective partners in a non-combative spirit. In the end, we were able to close the deal quickly with it being a win for everyone involved. Adam's knowledge and skill as an attorney combined with his responsive service helped make this transaction a positive experience for me. I will definitely hire Adam again for any related or similar legal work.

Adam Whitney is an amazing lawyer.
I went with a gut feeling into his office and I could not have found or asked for a better attorney. He is very attentive, listens to your concerns and really goes above and beyond for results.
