I highly recommend!

My personal experience with Attorney Sweeney's office was excellent. From the beginning of the litigation to my case all the way through to the end after my trial, I was very satisfied with my results. The judgment order had mostly everything I wanted. My case is with a narcissistic co-parent that in...volves high conflict, poor communication, history of domestic violence, and polar opposite beliefs. Attorney Sweeney and his team Susanne and Lilly always communicated to me the best course of action (recommendations) and they helped me every step of the way. The team always kept me up to date and they always answered all of my questions. Attorney Sweeney and his team are knowledgeable, efficient, respond in a timely manner, and have a lot of experience. My child is currently 3 years old, however in the beginning of litigation she was just a one year old. My child and I have a long journey ahead of us. However, I will forever be grateful and thankful for Attorney Sweeney and his team's hard work to be successful in the beginning of my journey.

Similar expereince w/not so happy client

Extremely disorganized. Paul's paralegal is the reason he isn't completely inept. Paul can't read his own writing when hand drafts in changes at the court on temporary orders, four ways, and draft settlements. Very unprofessional about not discussing cases in advance, debriefing cases afterwards, ... prepping for meetings and showing up on time. Several times because of the disorganization I was held in contempt for documents that were not submitted on time by Paul. Courts don't care that your lawyer is disorganized it ends up reflecting on the client and ultimately costing more money .I would get calls from Paul after 5 pm Sunday or at 6 pm the night prior to court opposed to reviewing a few days in advance. This only after several calls to the office asking why I have not heard from Paul to discuss court. I had an important work meeting and could not make a court date. I made Paul aware months in advance. I was forced to go to court on a frivolous contempt order almost costing me my job because no continuation was filed. Several times I was taken to court on frivolous orders where my spouse had filed false affidavits. I asked several times for mine to be submitted but again none were. Ultimately, I hired a new attorney and realized divorce attorney organization is important. If deadlines aren't met regarding all the menusha of divorce the client ends up in court, paying money and taking the blame on the work you pay your lawyer to do (or not do).

Satisfied divorced customer

Paul Sweeney was recommended to me by a friend who had two divorces. She said her first lawyer was horrible and that for her second divorce, she found Paul who was amazing. And that was true for me as well. I went into this process completely naive about how one actually divorces. Paul was calm, comp...assionate, soft spoken, smart and confident that he would take care of me. He is a wiz with numbers and can move them around better than any car salesman I have ever seen. I ended up with the family home and did not have to buy my husband out which is awesome. I can now move forward without a gigantic mortgage that would have financially choked me.

"I endorse Paul J. Sweeney. I have seen many lawyers interact with clients, but no one shows as much compassion and intellect as Paul. Paul works with clients to set up goals, fully explain the divorce process and help them move on with their lives. He is the reason I go to work everyday, because he is a boss who cares about people. A rare find for a boss and an essential character trait for a divorce attorney."

"I endorse this lawyer. I have had the pleasure off knowing Paul Sweeney since 1981. From our law school days through his tenure as an Assistant Register of Probate in the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court, Attorney Sweeney is one of the few I would conference with to make sure I was representing my clients to the best of my ability. His knowledge of the law is a credit to our profession. It is my pleasure to endorse Attorney Sweeney as one of the best practitioners in the legal community."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
