I had a very unfortunate and costly experience with Atty Markvan before terminating her services. She missed technical details and spent more time supporting my ex and his counsel, than advocating on my behalf. She will leave you questioning yourself at times. She engages in unprofessional conduct ...and if you are heightened as a result of the negotiations/or interactions with the ex, she will ignore it, then blame, shame and tell you she is doing it for your own good. She won’t remove herself nor will she offer you the full gamut of services you may need if it begins to get into high conflict territory. She pressed me to not go after half the assets because his attorney told her we had a “prior conversation and I agreed not to” and was promoting a settlement which well below the Massachusetts state legal standard, not to mention most other states’ legal standards. I did get a new attorney, who got us back on track and came out with a settlement that made me whole that was nearly triple the amount she was pushing me to settle on and included ALL assets. If you are currently with her and questioning yourself/sanity, trust your gut and call the Office of Bar Counsel. But you are better off going with another attorney especially if you are trying to leave a destructive marriage. You need an advocate – Attorney Markvan is not that person.
