I have been in the criminal justice system for over 36 years. I practice primarily in criminal defense but also take personal injury cases and excessive force cases/ civil rights cases working closely with a civil rights attorney in the Worcester area. Prior to becoming an attorney I was a police officer for 23 years where I was assigned to 3 regional drug task forces working undercover for approximately 7 1/2 years As a police officer I was trained in fingerprint recovery by the Federal Bureau of investigations and the Massachusetts State police, trained in advanced field sobriety testing and was a certified breathalyzer operator. I was also trained in sexual assault investigations, homicide investigations, crime scene investigations, drug investigations by the DEA, Mass State Police, and the Criminal Justice Training Council. I utilize these trainings in the defense of my client.
After leaving police work after 23 1/2 years of service and prior to becoming an attorney I was also the senior global investigator for a fortune 500 company directing investigations in 228 locations worldwide. 2013 to 2017 I was chosen as rising star by Super lawyers along with several other awards from the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.
I have offices located in Worcester and Boston and work as Of Counsel at Dhar Law LLP. Dhar Law handling criminal defense cases.

Joseph Hennessey is an outstanding Lawyer. Joe is handling 5 cases in various courts for as I speak. He has handled my cases when other Lawyers didn't want the burden of traveling to the different county's as I needed. He got me released when other Lawyers said it couldn't be done, because of the m...

You get what you pay for
On a positive note, Joseph managed to keep me out of jail and get me an ok plea agreement. On a negative note, you get what you pay for. Although Attorney Hennessey isn't necessarily cheap, he is extremely hard to get in contact with. You will meet with him maybe twice at most during your case and un...
This client is partially correct in his review. Yes, I did keep him out of jail which he was facing a significant amount of time for his crimes but he is not correct about the meeting times or the lack of contact I had with him. Yes, I was able to work out a deal that kept him out of jail. We had several discussions about the plea, the collateral consequences that run with the plea. We had these discussions on the phone, before court, requests for further calls to discuss the plea, during the plea, at the probation office and after leaving the probation office. I even used an investigator with a translator to speak with witnesses that were only harmful to his case. This client was upset because after a year on probation he demanded I file motions to end conditions of his probation. I was always readily available to him. What the client didn't and still doesn't understand is that post trial motions are separate to the fee agreement and he was made aware of this when signing the agreement. I explained to him what the fees would be for me to take the case for the post trial motions. I offered him a significantly reduced rate. I even offered to write the motions free of charge for him to handle himself because I didn't have the availability in my schedule due to trials to drive to his distant court to handle his motions in the time period that he was demanding. He was demanding I move trials so that I deal with his post trial motion. I'm sorry that my answer was not acceptable to you. Only upon receiving irrational emails and threats from this client I then refused to handle for him. This was not a refusal to fix a mistake because there was no mistake. This was a refusal to handle post plea motions for an irrational client that had accepted a plea to stay out of jail. This same person has posted in other sites using false names because he was upset. The deal he received was the best he could ever receive.

i DONT recommend attorney Hennessey, waste of money.. i beat my case with a court appointed attorney
I dont recommend this attorney to anyone, i spent alot of money with this guy, then got a different, court appointed lawyer for $200 and beat my case ! On google I left you the same feedback and you wrote "this must be a fake feedback" .... my response to that is, why would i take my time to leave...
I believe this to be a fake review posting based upon the name given by this person. First of all, if you were once my client you left no information that would allow me to properly respond to this review. I have NEVER represented someone by the name of Jacky Thomas and on several other postings you spelt that name differently. I have civil rights cases pending against police officers and DOC officers that have caused some anxiety with those officers. Your posting with a name that I do not recognize and the fact that you spelt differently on other postings causes me to question the authenticity of this review. I would not have made an offer for you to serve a sentence and have never made any such offer without waiting for an offer from the DA. That is my practice. If it involved a case that had a minimum mandatory jail sentence then my efforts to get you a lesser sentence would have rested strictly with the DA since the judge has no authority to alter that sentence unless the DA agrees. If there were discussions about a jail sentence then our discussions would have been strictly about the maximum penalties or minimum mandatory sentence that you faced which is a discussion that I am mandated to have along with the possible sentence based upon your record and any offers that were made by the District Attorney's Office. I am sorry if you may have misunderstood that discussion. As for the presentment of your case, COVID-19 pretty much put all courts on stop for a period of time. Cases were significantly delayed at no fault of anyone. I am not sure if this was an issue in your case but the fact that I do not know which client this might have been or if you were an actual client prevents me from providing a proper response. The mere fact that you purposely left a false name or left no details about your case that would have allowed me provide a proper response leaves me without the ability to respond. I do not agree with the AVVO policy that allows reviews from annonymous or even false names. I fully understand about that you wouldn't want your name posted but AVVO should give us the opportunity to know who has provided the review and to allow us to give a response without the guess. As for your posting on Google, it was removed by Google because it was a posting from a fake person. If your post is true then I am glad that you received a great outcome in your case and I apologize for any misunderstanding between you and I. Having the ability to properly respond to an allegation such as this is important to me and I take this very personal, but the failure to provide a true and accurate name questions the validity of the review especially with the type of law that I practice. It raises a question of believing that this is a true and accurate review. If you were a former client, then I am glad things worked out for you and I wish you the best going forward.
