I was arrested for my second DUI august 2012. I knew who to call for my lawyer Cole Casey. He represented me for my first DUI back in 2004 and I remembered the outstanding job he did for me then. For my second DUI I was looking at jail time and community work service. I informed Cole Casey about my concerns and very busy work schedule. In the end Cole Casey got the job done again. I knew I could count on him.The outcome was way better than I could have expected no jail time or work service. I appreciate everything Cole Casey and his staff have done for me. Grateful! You don't realize in the beginning how everything will work out. This was my second DUI and cost was well worth it! Cole Casey is very knowledgeable of law but also has respectful relationships with the courts and each DA. Understands and respects our law enforcement, as well as giving them training! Case is settled and have classes to enroll and had to have 3 days of house arrest and bracelet. Here is the point! Sheriff department joked about the court system making me do this. Next point: if I didnt have Cole Casey as my attorney I would spent a lot of time in jail and would have had bracelet/3 times a day breatherlizer for 3 to 9 months. One executive that was in group reporting had over a year of doing this. He had the wrong attorney. Point I am making is that you won't see how bad will be by picking the wrong attorney in the beginning.

I, stupidly, managed to acquire a 3rd DUI, whilst on probation for a 2nd one in Orange County, CA.
Cole Casey's law firm was recommended to me, ironically, by my bail bonds firm, who had never met him either, but had heard good things from their clients.
I interviewed 4 law firms in the height of my panic, just days after my arrest....what can I say? Mr. Casey and his staff blew the other law firms out of the water, from my initial introduction through to the final, agonizing few months.
Professionalism and knowledge were instrumental in my choice of representation and it all started with Ashley, who answered the phone on my first call to Cole Casey's firm. I sincerely believe that whether you are facing your first or third DUI, that this man and his wonderful staff, will be the best money you ever could spend on something so important.

Mr. Casey took my felony DUI case, out of county, in November 2007. He was able to work with the prosecution to reach an agreement that kept me out of jail. He went to court several times on my behalf since then to try to have the sentence reduced. Finally, in February 2013, he was able to have it reduced to a misdemeanor against the adamant, however blind, will of the prosecution. Cole agreed to see my case to the end and he kept true to his word, all on the initial retainer. If you have a DUI in San Diego, you need to call this man. He is very busy, but if you are patient, you will find that he knows his clients, and he fights for them.

I would absolutely recommend Cole Casey! Before hiring Cole, I spoke with a Public Defender and decided I should talk to private counsel before making any decisions. Cole was the best decision I could have made in hiring an attorney for my DUI with bodily injury to my passenger. He is trustworthy, dependable and gave my family and I the confidence we needed to get through this hard time. Cole's representation was a tremendous relief and if I were to do it all over again, I would hire him in a heartbeat.

I was recently charged with my second DUI while on probation and was facing harsher penalties. The circumstances around my arrest was highly questionable and I have no doubt that I was going to fight it as my career was on the line. I looked around all of San Diego for highly experienced attorney's and all of them basically gave up knowing second DUI's are difficult to fight. I called Cole Casey's office and he told me that I should speak to him in person. Note that Cole is really popular and has a reputation further research on this will confirm my statements. I quickly went to his office and was greeted by his staff whom made me feel at ease. I had previously worked with an attorney for my first DUI charge who did not do anything for me and basically played the Bait and Switch tactic and found out that he did not even represent me in trial and had others doing his work for him. So having this prior experience I found it difficult to trust Cole in the beginning. Once I explained the story to him he quickly said he would represent me and take the case I worked with a team of people from Ashley, Chris, Mary, Alisha and Cole himself I was updated every time I had questions and they always were happy to make sure I was at ease. The first person I talked to was Ashley. She knew more than most of the other lawyers I talked to and she was only the office assistant! The most humiliating night of my life was when I got a DUI. I have never been more scared about my future than I was the night of my arrest and the following days. I old a professional license that was terrifed of losing. I called a friend of mine from church whose husband I knew was a well known judge and asked them for a referral. 3 October 2012: Cole's associate, Alisha Wood, Esq., prevailed in my Administrative Per Se ("APS") DMV hearing, preventing me from having my license suspended while I fight a charge of DUI. I am aware that the DMV administrative hearing process is a very difficult forum for the driver ('respondent"). I had therefore assumed that the DMV hearing was "unwinnable". I could not be happier with the representation I have received to date from Mr. Casey and his firm.

The phone rang and time stood still. My son, who is so talented and capable of being a major contributor to society, had lost his battle to remain sober and was arrested for a 4th DUI. The stakes were more than a lost job, likely jail time and a felony record; his life was at risk!

In my case, the time finally came for the charges to be expunged and Cole was there for me again. As fate would have it, instead of expunging the charges from my record, a clerical error caused by a typo (literally the difference of a single period) resulted in a felony firearm related charge being put on my DMV record! Of course I was beside myself and anxious to get the error corrected. Cole's team (Mary & Chris) consoled me and went to the court to negotiate with the commissioner 4 times over several weeks to correct the situation! Every time, they said it was fixed but when I contacted the DMV, they said it was still there. I called their office often bugging them about the situation but they were always courtious. Finally they were actually able to get one of the senior counsel representatives from the DMV to call and apologize for the situation. Just yesterday the DMV confirmed that it has been completely removed from the record. YAY!! :D

I was arrested in Oct. of 2011 for my 3rd DUI in 10 years in CA and for those of you familiar with the penalty it carries a minimum of 120 days in jail. I interviewed 4 attorneys that specialize in DUIs. The first told me to rush a guilty plea through and do the time asap and get it over with and that there was no point in fighting it, I would lose. The second and third attorneys both gave me an elaborate story on how they would use expert toxicologists to prove what I ate and my current stress level because of work caused my BAC to rise. When i met with Cole he said I had to do go above and beyond to not go to jail so he suggested I voluntarily be put on SCRAM (alcohol monitor), enroll in and intensive out patient drug and alcohol rehab program and that i start seeing a one on one drug and alcohol therapist. I did it all and ended up wearing the SCRAM bracelet for 9 months but now just signed a change of plea to do 5 months of Electronic Monitoring (house arrest) which allows me to go to and from work and sleep in my bed and night. Thank God for Cole Casey, Chris Sohovich, and Vivian Ruelas!

This was my first DUI and unfortunately prior to working with Mr. Casey, I retained a not only incompetent attorney but malicious. “She” (not to mention names) kept approximately $2000 providing absolutely nothing for my case. The circumstances of my DUI arrest were not particularly damning or out of the ordinary. But my profession is such that a DUI would abruptly end my career. In my mind, I wanted the best lawyer possible, regardless of cost, because no retainer fee would compare to the potential amount of money lost due to me being fired from an occupation that I’ve devoted my life to. After careful research and a few other meetings with SD lawyers, I absolutely knew Mr. Casey was my most viable choice. I also solicited the help of a reputable DUI lawyer from my homestate- some 2000 miles away- for a recommendation and he came back with Casey’s name. Impressive. (In all fairness, a LA lawyer came just as highly recommendeda but I strongly discourage anyone from retaining a lawyer outside the city of arrest as the lawyer’s working relationship with the city attorney’s office could be the difference in your case).

I must say I initially found Mr. Casey’s confidence in beating the charges a bit unfounded in only our first meeting, but I figured if your lawyer isn’t motivated, then you’ve lost before you even stepped onto the field. And I was dead wrong- his confidence is completely founded.

Mr. Casey and co. fought tooth and nail for over a year to get the charge reduced to a reckless. The city attorney kept telling them “no” after “no” but he wasn’t deterred, even when I was. It was an emotional rollercoaster but his calm demeanor eased my worries after every talk.

You might hear from other DUI arrestees that a lawyer is futile, as SD law guarantees a conviction, regardless of the evidence. Lord knows I heard that at every class at my DUI program. This is simply false. These testimonies show you there is hope; don’t let the system convince you otherwise.

After being arrested for a DUI I was referred to Mr. Casey by a personal friend and he has been there to help me every step of the way. He is very knowledgeable and professional. After my DUI arrest I called Mr. Casey on the recommendation of another attorney friend of mine. It was not only the right call but turned out to be the best money I ever spent. I was arrested in Nov 2009 and through all the months of DMV hearings, and District Attorney hearings, etc, Cole and his staff were always right there. From the very beginning his staff was available to review the entire process, what to expect in terms of hearings and time tables, and in general temper all the the anxiety and stress that accompanies this process. Cole Casey was a true advocate and confident, his office very professional and diligent, and I will always be grateful for his/their service.

I immediately like his direct, no non-sense approach to my case as well as his absolute candor with me about the reality of my situation. My DUI arrest was no fairy tale, Reckless Driving, DUI at a .17 BAC, you get the idea. He helped me to understand my options and make the most intelligent decisions at each step of my case.

The moral of this story: Don't drink and drive, ever, ever, ever. You do not want this kind of heat on you. Not only is it stupid, but also the constitution almost doesn't apply to you if you do once in the legal system. Learned a big lesson from my mistake, despite my incredible outcome thanks to Cole.

Regret aside, I have gotten out of bed every morning since with a valid drivers license, no criminal record and driven to work watching the guys in the orange jump suits picking up trash along the road-side saying to myself "Thank God for Cole Casey"!

I would never recommend this attorney. Took $7500 and set a trial. At the court house waiting for the judge he told me I didn't have a chance based upon my case and he can't do anything and that I should just plead guilty. He offered to go back to court in 2 1/2 years to ask for the probation to be reduced from 5 to 2 1/2 years. He could have told me this before. No compassion, not trustworthy. Wouldn't buy a used car from him.

I did my homework on DUI attorneys and am glad I did. I hired Cole Casey, and paid a few dollars more than it seemed everyone else charged, but I had a very good feeling about Cole and his firm. The firm seemed very "legitimate" from the first time I spoke with Matt, one of Cole's lawyers. He had been referred by several other lawyers that I know. All I can say is thank God I went with him and stayed clear of all the bargain basement lawyers, especially those that sent me their BS in the mail. My case was dismissed in January of 2010. 100% gone. The DMV tried to suspend my license and Cole and Matt prevented that from happening too. Cole's reputation is outstanding and I see why...it is well deserved. One funny thing is that after I hired him, 2 of the other lawyers I had interviewed each called me to follow up and see who I hired. I told them Cole and they BOTH said "well, he IS the best" and told me that Cole is who THEY would hire if they were in DUI trouble. (I wonder why they didn't tell me that from the beginning ??) Do your homework people. When you ask around, especially if you have friends in the legal field, they will almost always direct you to Cole's firm, and they should. Excellent, excellent attorney.
