An AMAZING lawyer... When I was incarcerated for a clerical mistake, my brother contacted her at 3am in the morning leaving a voice mail. She called the jail I was at and comforted me the entire time and was released the same day. She knows what shes doing and she does it well. You wont find a better lawyer that is as trustworthy and caring at the same time. I was referred to her by a friend and I thank God that such a great lawyer exist. If she cant get your case dismissed, then I dont think anyone can.

Our son was the client. We were completely clueless and without any idea of what to do. JL was recomended by a civil attorney friend of ours as the best person for our cause. went through some struggles with a very stubborn transmission repair and she really was amazing. the best thing was how fair and straight forward she was through out the whole ordeal. truly do not think the outcome would have been the same with out such a dedicated lawyer.

When I found that I needed a criminal attorney, Ms. Carpenter was recommended to me by a high school friend whom she had recently defended. Ms. Carpenter acted quickly and efficiently to reset my first hearing until after she had time to review the case with me. She obtained the existing court documentation and reviewed the facts of the case with me. She listened carefully and researched the laws concerning my arrest and the elements necessary to make the state’s case. She presented this information to the ADA in charge of my case and got an agreement to dismiss based on the uncertainty of the charges, and my demonstrating good faith in completing the education and community service requirements outlined by the ADA. When one of the required education classes was cancelled due to bad weather, it looked like I would be unable to complete the ADA’s requirements on time. Ms Carpenter got the completion date reset to the day after the class was re-scheduled.

I now know a little more about what it takes to be an excellent attorney having seen Ms. Carpenter at work on my behalf. She is very competent in understanding the law and the rules of evidence. She was diligent in researching the “gray” areas. She vigorously negotiated my case with the ADA based on the strength of her understanding the law, but also showing full respect for the ADA’s position. She represented me and defended my rights while demonstrating a level of calm professionalism that kept the entire matter on track and avoided emotional confrontation with the ADA or the court.

JL Carpenter is a Great Defense lawyer who will take each and every case very seriously. She is a very friendly person who will make you feel that you can trust her with your case, JL will keep you informed all the time of what is happening or what you can expect to happen.

I came to J.L. a few days after receiving a DWI. A client of a friend highly recommended her.Frantic and stressed I came to her office a few days before my first court appearance.
She was positive from the start, and made me feel that I had a shot to win a dismissal. Which she ended up helping me get. I had needed a lawyer before and he was always late, and not supportive. I hired J.L. as my attorny on a first time DWI case. Knowing the stats of getting out of it in Houston, where slim to none. J.L. told me to stay positive and that it can be done. After around our 5th re-set I was skeptical, it came down to do or die.. Either I was going to pay more and we were going to take it to trial, or it was going to be dismissed. J.L. spoke with the state and she said I have to check on this client, I'll be right back, before she could get back, the case was thrown out of court!! i had 2 different posession cases cases within 3 months of each other and j.l. got me off without a trial. she is a former prosecuting attorney for galveston county and ive been told those are the best kind to have in your corner because they know the law and the system. she is very witty, very knowledgeable, very respectful and gets alot of respect in the courtroom, she is tough and confident and her confidence reduced my worries. a 5 star rating system isnt enough for this attorney. they need a 10 star rating sytem giving her a 10.99 star.

The Grand Jury no billed my case and apologized. It was nice to have her guidance and knowledge of the courts to get me through a tough time. I can not comment further because I still have a pending suit against my accuser.
