After graduating from Catholic Memorial High School I attended college at UW-Whitewater. After two years I transfered to UW-Madison, where I obtained my degree in political science. Immediatley after graduating from Madison I was accepted to law school at Marquette where I graduated in 2005.
In law school I was the president of the International Law Society and was heavily involved in election protection work. In the summer of 2004 I accepted a job in Eritrea, East Africa. I worked for the Eritrean government and assisted in the investigation of human rights abuses. The majority of the time, I interviewed villagers about losses they had suffered during the invasion. I prepared financial claims for Eritreans and helped them seek compensation.
After law school I began my career as a criminal defense lawyer. I am a partner at Kuchler & Cotton Law Offices in Waukesha, Wisconsin. My practice is almost entirely devoted to the represenation of people accused of crimes. I consider myself a trial lawyer and have tried cases in both state and federal court. I believe strongly in listening carefully to my clients so that I can present their story in the most effective way. I learned how to practice law from two people - my mother and stepfather. They are the two finest attorneys I've ever known. They care about their clients on a truly personal level and they are committed to fighting for the underdog.
I work long hours, but enjoy what I do. Every client has my cell phone number, and they can call me at any time, if needed. The size of our firm has grown over ten years, which is a direct reflection of the quality of our work. We handle every type of criminal case there is, and our results have been exceptional because of how much time we spend working on our files. With five attorneys in the firm, every case is dissected among the group and we make sure our clients are immediately apprised of the strategy.

I had the privilege of working with Atty. Cotton on a high-profile criminal defense case. The entire case was scrutinized by the media, and the pressure was high. Atty. Cotton was always composed, confident, competent and professional. His mastery of the law is second to none, and his courtroom performance is phenomenal. What an inspiration! You can't go wrong with Atty. Cotton at your side. If I am ever in trouble with the law, he is the first person that I will call.
