About Me

Michael Hanna is a civil rights attorney. He has litigated hundreds of federal claims across the nation and is committed to defending the rights of employees and those who are unlawfully discriminated against. His law practice focuses on the prosecution of discrimination claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), Title II and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) and 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981 and 1983; unpaid wage claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); medical leave claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); disability discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and age discrimination claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).


 


Mr. Hanna has litigated many high profile cases that have been featured on MSNBC, ABC Action News, Fox News, AOL News, The Huffington Post, The Washington Times, The Miami New Times, The Orlando Sentinel, The Associated Press, and various other national and local news syndicates. While Mr. Hanna is dedicated to eradicating illegal discrimination against people of all walks of life, his practice focuses predominantly on defending the rights of Arab-Americans. He works hand in hand with various civil rights organizations, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee on a national level. Mr. Hanna also serves as president of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee's Florida chapter.


 


Mr. Hanna previously worked at the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's office and clerked for the Honorable William Turnoff at the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida. As a law student at the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Hanna interned for the Honorable Scott Silverman at the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court in and for Miami-Dade County, and the Economic Crimes Unit at the United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida.


 


Mr. Hanna is admitted to the Florida Bar, and has litigated claims in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle District of Florida, Western District of Tennessee, Eastern District of Michigan, Eastern District of Kentucky, District of South Carolina, Northern District of Mississippi, Northern District of Georgia, and District of Colorado.
