James Coulter is a personal injury and criminal defense attorney who is dedicated to helping his clients get the best possible outcome in each case. He serves as a partner and attorney at the Melbourne-based law firm, The Law Offices of Germain & Coulter, LLC.
He has first-hand experience with the frustration and confusion caused by an accident. An experience with a serious auto accident years ago left him with even more determination to protect others from the abuses of insurance companies.
Now, he has dedicated himself to helping clients in cases involving personal injury. This includes various car accident types, boat accidents, workplace accidents, child injury, premises liability, construction accidents, birth injury, wrongful death and other areas. Even against the largest of companies, James Coulter fights strategically and aggressively for maximum compensation on behalf of his clients.
As a Central Florida criminal defense lawyer, James is adamant about helping those accused of crimes face the criminal justice system. He handles a variety of misdemeanor and felony cases, including drug charges, DUI charges, marijuana offenses, violent crimes, gun charges and domestic violence allegations. In addition, he helps people handle arrest warrants, probation violations and record sealing.
James earned his bachelor's degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland in 2001. In 2005, the Washington, D.C., native graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, earning his juris doctor. He earned experience on the other side of the law early in his career. James served as an assistant state attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit of Florida where he prosecuted various misdemeanor and felony offenses.
Additionally, James has consistently been active in the legal community. He serves as a member of several organizations, such as the Florida Justice Association and the Brevard County Bar Association. He also is an adjunct professor of Criminal Law, Ethics and Evidence at Everest University in Melbourne.
When he is not practicing law or teaching, James enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, skiing, boating, and participating in activities with his local church.
