Honored to be named Veteran of the Year 2009 by the Veterans Council of Chatham County for work with veterans organizations, including the Savannah WWII Memorial Committee, providing legal counsel and coordination with bureaucrats, committees, commissions and politicians to honor the Greatest Generation with a fitting tribute on River Street.
Now serving as Commander of George K. Gannam Post 184 of American Legion (Thunderbolt, GA), and 2009 Commander of Tybee Light Sail & Power Squadron, as well as President of Savannah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Replied last October 4, 2021Brooke, you helped get the results we achieved. Some clients, who have no experience with the court system or what a lawyer’s job actually requires, expect the lawyer single handedly to just make it all go away. If you watch gangster movies from the 1940’s, you might get that impression because it shows the cop, the prosecutor or even the old judge taking a bribe. Not sure that was ever very common, but it was very Hollywood box office. Thankfully, in today’s world, with cops having car video and body worn cameras and mics, and email exchange, the system is almost corruption free. We will see if the good old boy system was still working to explain the events in SC with the Murdagh’s… expect a mini-series or even a Hollywood feature film to come…and six books once the truth is wrenched from the lips of the accomplices. The practice of law has changed with the times, I handled my first Courtroom cases in 1968 at Hunter Army Airfield, as prosecutor trying Army Special Courts-Martial…5 years before I got into Emory Univ Law School. The client cooperation, participation in preparation, and active/happy compliance with tasks that help the process, whether the outcome is as hoped and fought for - or otherwise- makes the team effort worthwhile. Why? Because the defense must come from behind. The prosecutor always has a headstart by the police securing the evidence that THEY want. Most of the successful defense cases are directly related to the client joining the lawyer team to win as much justice as the evidence will allow and the lawyer’s skill and determination can produce. I am happy to say ALL of my clients are team players, or they don’t get to join our team. Clients must care about the outcome as much as the lawyer.
