I came across Attorney Zachary Kowalski by a referral from an organization I had reached out to for assistance with legal help in my divorce and custody case. I must say, that was the best referral I had ever received for a lawyer. I had been with a previous law firm and while they knew what they wer...e doing, they were VERY expensive and just kept dragging the case. I would recommend Zack to a point. Very educated within the law. That being said, his written orders (judges will put the task of writing the orders to the lawyers) could be more specific. With vaguely written orders it only leads to more frustration when you are dealing with an uncompromising second... party. After spending thousands on a lawyer, you would hope for precise orders that limits nonsense from the other party. I think that point speaks to my other concern. Again, Zack knows the law. He even corrected the judge in a respectful way. However, his understanding of the people element needs refining --- I'm sure he will improve on this as I honestly feel he wants to do well for his client. But there were elements of my case that were never brought up that would put my ex-partner in a poor light. Instead, Zack presented a case that made the other party and myself look on equal terms. So after suffering assault on top of assault from the other party, I then had to suffer through a weak presentation of the facts. Zack can be hot or cold. In one of the false filings from the other party, he crushed it. Then during the custody hearing it was as if his mind was elsewhere or he had a dip in blood sugar or something. Something was off. He was a father to newborn at the time, so maybe it was a late night. I don't know, but it had ramifications affecting my life deeply.

I used a big law firm for my divorce and it was ungodly expensive and not a great experience. I had a job loss and then reduction in salary and I needed to modify child support. I started pro se and then at the last minute (like 2 business days before the court date) I brought Zach in. Clearly I shou...ld have hired him weeks before but he still did an amazing job. I paid a fraction of what I would have paid to use my first attorney and was very satisfied with the results. He knows his stuff in regards to family law. He went up against a big name divorce attorney in MoCo and still had a favorable outcome. I wish I had used him for my divorce!

Unfortunately for me, my divorce case has entailed every nightmare scenario from false allegations of abuse to parental alienation. Searching for anything resembling justice, I went through four attorneys before hiring Mr. Kowalski. I often wonder how my life would be different had he been the firs...t one I hired. Unlike the other attorneys, Mr. Kowalski was not interested in playing to my emotions (and by extension, my wallet) by bad mouthing my ex-wife, her attorney, etc. He keeps his eye on the ball and laid out my options at every step to include the pros and cons and the cost of each option. He also advised me at times to see beyond the immediate crisis and my knee jerk reaction to how it might affect my relationship with my son when he's a man and no longer under her control. In the court room, he is always thoroughly prepared. He's not a showman, using the false outrage and stunts of other attorneys, which I feel often backfires on their clients. Having been through several attorneys, I would highly recommend Mr. Kowalski. I would also advise not to let his relative youth dissuade you. I found older attorneys I hired to be lazy, quite frankly.
