I used a big law firm for my divorce and it was ungodly expensive and not a great experience. I had a job loss and then reduction in salary and I needed to modify child support. I started pro se and then at the last minute (like 2 business days before the court date) I brought Zach in. Clearly I shou...ld have hired him weeks before but he still did an amazing job. I hired Mr. Kowalski for my custody case separate from my child support case. I went to child support hearing alone and that turned out to be not in my favor. Upon completion of the hearing, I spoke with “Zack” for guidance and added him to my case. I didn’t know what would happen when we returned fo...r a hearing almost a year later, but Zack knows the statutes and even the judge had to open the statutes to verify what he stated in order to receive a proper judgment. Without Zack, I don’t think I would have received the results that were in my best interest. I had a complicated case because it was a custody modification after nearly 7 years. A Best Interest Attorney (BIA) was appointed for my kids, which is when I hired Zach. He was extremely thorough in explaining to me how the BIA process worked and what my role was in that process. Zach was... also very patient and detailed oriented as he went through my case. This included the pros and cons of asking for certain things, what the chances of getting certain things were, offering up options I had not thought about, and probably most important, he was able to read the tea leaves as the case progressed and evolved. Zach also has a very calming demeanor. This was very helpful since I was anything but calm. He was able to walk me off the ledge many times. Finally, Zach was very up front with cost estimates and I never felt like he was trying to use or abuse time in order to get more billable hours. This was very refreshing, as my past experience with lawyers was very different. The bottom line is I would highly recommend Zach to folks going through the difficulties of divorce/custody. He was extremely knowledgeable, honest, detail oriented, thorough and calm during a very tumultuous time. With is guidance and counsel, I was able to get a custody and child support structure that was best for my kids.
