Shannon Darcy Herman

Shannon Herman is an attorney at Derek Smith Law Group, PLLC, a firm that represents employees in discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation and other workplace cases. She is admitted to practice in New York and works from the firm’s New York office.Shannon represents people who have been mistreated at work. Her cases include claims of discrimination based on race, gender, pregnancy, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion, as well as sexual harassment, hostile work environment, wrongful termination and retaliation.

Before joining the firm, Shannon served as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York. As a prosecutor, she worked closely with crime victims and advocated for their rights. That experience shaped her commitment to client-centered advocacy. Today she draws on her courtroom background to build compelling narratives and litigate with determination on behalf of her clients. Shannon earned her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. There she founded and led two student organizations focused on criminal justice reform and on expanding access to legal resources for underserved communities. She also took part in the school’s Mediation Clinic, mediating civil and small-claims disputes and sharpening her negotiation skills. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clark University and is admitted to practice in New York.
