DO NOT HIRE IF YOUR A FATHER.......... "RUN"

I hired Ms. Thomas back in 2016 to handle my divorce. Around $10,000 later and all court proceedings, paperwork and my case crap. Ms.Thomas seemed timid in court or afraid of the other attorney. Her way of handling my case was settle, settle, settle!!! "this is a good deal!!" never standing up for M...E, or understanding MY situation, she must have been scorned by someone before because of what I read on other reviews. If your a father and you care about you kids, your money or coming out of a divorce with dignity then THIS IS NOT THE LAWYER FOR YOU!!! I tried and tired to explain my situation to her and it was like it went into one ear and out the other, as long as the payments kept rolling in that's all that seemed to matter with her. my ex cheated for 3 years, has a decent paying job and because I left to start the 1 year separation needed to get a divorce ( which is a ridiculous law) I was dragged through the coals!! lost the house, my truck, my kids, she got alimony and child support and all I got was my car, my bedroom furniture and my garage stuff. I explained over and over how unfair this was and she looked at me and coldly said " you should've never left" no compassion for fathers rights!! so run!!! run away quickly from this attorney as fast as you can if you want to have a life after divorce.

Don’t come here if a father !!

I went for a consultation with Mrs Thomas pending a divorce and child support. My ex cheated and was demanding 2/3 of my paycheck. I pay all bills, insurance, car, plus additional 1500$ with out a court order on good faith. When I was subpoenaed for child care, child support, responsibility of all bi...lls, and alimony totaling more than 2/3 of my income her only question was “why shouldn’t you pay for everything “ She has absolutely no compassion for fathers or military service members. I saw 3 other lawyers after this with much better results. I hired one and ultimately needed up paying over 1300$ less than what Mrs Thomas said I would be paying. Thank god I only spent a consultation fee and not exhorbant amounts of money that she has taken from others will poor outcomes.

In response to earlier feedback,...

First of all I was never past due on any payments, I even payed after you told me you wanted to withdraw. You withdrew because I didn't want to continue paying 50 dollars per contact on the server that had the answers to the questions you already asked in previous questions. Second I didn't authori...ze you to disclose any details about my case, I'm anyomus here so I'm sure that's what you will hide behind but I find it unprofessional. Finally yes you were at the hearing where the judge ordered the payment "to the clerk" they wouldn't take my money on the ground floor so I mailed it to the address she said she lived at and when you finally uploaded the written instructions with a mailing address for the clerk I explained what I did and asked if I should cancel the check and write a new one to the clerk and your exact words were "he'll no",...imagine my surprise when 2 months later you seem shocked that I wasn't paying the clerk. In my honest opinion Samantha Thomas is a good lawyer that just has too many cases going at once.

She quit my case 3 days from a hearing!!!

several events led to my having to call the office to explain I didn't want to communicate via the mycase server. Ms Thomas would ask questions already discussed, charged for a filed extension when I submitted documents earlier than asked, and she messaged me telling me I was supposed to pay the cler...ks office not send checks directly to my ex like she told me was ok just a month earlier. All of this is bad but like most family law offices in the area, this office is extremely busy. The main reason for my 1 star is that after I called the office to voice my concerns and tell them I would just speak with Ms Thomas on days we had court instead of constantly reminding her on mycase and paying for all the messages she told me she had no option but to withdrawal as my Lawyer. (she did this 3 days from a hearing, very unprofessional.) I paid this Lawyer over $3,000 and basically had to start over with another office. My advice is to save your money and find a lawyer that doesn't nickel and dime you.

I am sorry that you feel this way but the reason we ask client to message on MyCase and not call the office is because they cannot address legal issues relating to your case and to document any conversations that we have. I do know you were in court when the Judge ordered where the payment was to be sent but you declined to do that because you wanted to show that your spouse was not residing where she said she was. I do not like to find out information the day of court because that does not give me time to prepare so it is our practice to get the information from client prior to court. It is not ethical for us to walk into court unprepared and without the necessary information from our clients but unfortunately that means that we have to stay in touch with the client which does involve a cost but I cannot change my practice of maintaining regular contact with clients when their cases are so important. We always send reminders to clients when their bills are overdue so that no client is surprised when we do end up having to withdraw due to lack of payment. However since the hearing had already been continued prior to the withdraw there were no issues with the hearing. I wish you the best of luck.

More money doesn't mean better lawyer

Constantly had to remind her what was going on in my case, months and months went by, motions, contuances, compelling documents, she accomplished nothing for me and was annoyed when I didn't want to take the opposings "deal" not in my favor but it would have been an easy close and move on for her. Sh...e is only caring about her clients if their cases are easy and she doesn't have to do any prep work for her too high retainer. Find a lawyer that cares about you not about her bottom line.
