Sam has been my attorney off and on for over 5 years helping me with various family law situation's. I will say that Sam is a very smart woman who approaches situations in a matter of fact way. She’s direct and doesn’t put up with any guff from the opposing party. Sam has been informative, given word...s of wisdom and has been a shoulder to cry on when things were too overwhelming. If you want a lawyer who will give it to you straight and not sugar coat it and make false promises then Sam is your gal. I feel like Sam is fair with how she charges for her time. Lawyers are expensive, but I feel that Sam is no more expensive than any other. Divorce is messy, let Sam help you have a fighting chance at a fair settlement.

I hired Sam over 5 years ago upon a recommendation from my financial advisor to handle my very long divorce settlement. I believe that was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Sam knows the law and current family court precedents to expertly get results. She actively listened to my desires, yet guide...d me to a positive position that protected my current and future assets. I am writing this review now because my case was opened back up and she fought to minimize my expense and exposure with a fire that impressed me. I can now look back from day one until the time of this review and say Sam is much more that just a family law attorney. Sam has the rare quality of masterfully guiding you through the most trying and emotional time while giving sound advice to rebuild your happiness. Sam truly cares and has your back.

Working with Samantha through my divorce process was fantastic. Because I live I WA state and my now ex lives in OR state, I had to find an OR based attorney and didn't know anyone. I contacted their firm because they work in both states. During our initial phone consult, she had to calm me down a f...ew times, just because of what he initially was asking for that I disagreed with. She was thorough, to the point, professional, and sincere. She was tough with my ex's attorney and told it like it was; which was GREAT. She would respond to my emails very promptly and I would even get messages from her over a weekend, when timing was of the essence. She knew when to push and when to just let things take their natural course. While I never got to meet her in person, because it was settled without mediation, the next time I am in OR, I will stop by and say hi.

I engaged Samantha to assist me in my divorce and was astounded at her professionalism, pragmatism, and honesty. Samantha gives everythin...g she has to her clients, but she also will tell them when their goals are unattainable or ill-fated. While many attorneys in this field will encourage their clients to fight over the most meaningless of things (in order to drive up their fees - the dirty little secret of some in the practice), Samantha's goal for her clients is always the efficient yet fair resolution of their legal issues. I found Samantha to be warm but practical, incredibly smart and witty, and wholly accessible to me in my time of difficulty. Because I practice family law in the same city as Samantha Hazel, I risk losing future clients with my review, but it doesn't matter. I know her to practice with the utmost of ethics, a determination to resolve complex problems in common-sense ways, and a sense of advocacy that truly shines through when you realize she could have milked your case indefinitely, as others would do, but chose not to because she cares about her clients. If you are looking for talented and brilliant representation who will keep in mind the entirety of your family paradigm, rather than seeing you as an opportunity to enrich herself at your and your family's misery, hire Samantha Hazel. She took me from devastated and frightened to confident, secure, and happy in the space of just a few weeks. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I was referred to Mrs. Hazel by a friend who had had a similar experience with his ex-wife being spiteful and petty... to the point of trying to use the children as leverage. Divorce is ugly. It's a messy, nasty business, often revealing character at its most vulnerable and desperate. So I was surpri...sed by some of the other reviews here. Like my friend, I found Mrs. Hazel to be my staunchest advocate throughout the whole ordeal. Highly capable, she never missed or rescheduled an appointment, obviously knows the ins and outs of the law and courts, and it should go without saying, she's highly intelligent. She was very attentive to my case and showed an empathy I didn't think lawyers had. (small joke, well, sort of...) It might not seem like a big deal, but it was very important to me, to be able to see my kids over Memorial Day weekends. It's a weekend that means a lot to us... Long story short, she made that happen. What I found most capable about Mrs. Hazel was her directness. Assertive and confident, I can see why some people could be put off by forward-leaning demeanor. But isn't that what you want in an attorney? Someone who will go to bat for you? I know I did and it was the right decision.
