Biography
Samantha Hazel brings a wealth of experience to every family law case. With a diverse professional background, Samantha leverages a unique skillset to advocate for her clients.
Before becoming a family law attorney, Samantha worked in medical malpractice law, personal injury defense, medical research and health insurance policy, and as a criminal prosecutor with the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office. She also earned an MBA. Samantha ultimately chose to focus her practice on family law, so she could direct her energy and skills toward representing people facing personal hardship.
“Family law touches what is most elemental to all of us – our relationship with our kids, our sense of financial security, and even our self-confidence,” says Samantha. “My clients seek excellent advocacy as well as someone to help them through what is often a very difficult and stressful time. I provide that.”
Samantha concentrates her practice on high asset divorce, high conflict divorce, and contested child custody issues. She has also handled several cases involving domestic violence and false allegations of abuse. She is highly regarded for her courtroom skills and dedication to her clients.
“In every case, I give my client detailed information on the laws relevant to their issue and the steps we take to deal with it. In some cases, the best approach is mediation and reaching a settlement – but I also let them know that when some issues cannot be settled, we (my firm and I) are well equipped to represent them if trial is necessary.”
Samantha is a court-appointed representative of children and a former president, vice president, and treasurer of the Clackamas County Bar Association. She also serves on the Oregon Humane Society’s Board of Trustees and is a member of their Thomas Lamb Eliot Circle.
As a native Oregonian, Samantha takes full advantage of the Northwest’s natural beauty. She enjoys skiing, hiking, and running with her beloved dog, a rescued Standard Poodle named Quinn. Samantha is committed to helping animals, and is very proud of her work with the Oregon Humane Society. She is also an avid fan of the Ducks football program.
