Rebecca A. Edwards focuses her practice on all aspects of North Carolina family law litigation and collaborative negotiation, including equitable distribution, child custody, child support, postseparation support and alimony, premarital agreements, separation agreements, adoption, guardianship proceedings, and juvenile abuse, neglect, dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings.
Ms. Edwards was admitted to the practice of law in North Carolina after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with honors and distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Juris Doctor degree, Cum Laude, from the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Edwards was a NC State Bar Certified paralegal.
Ms. Edwards was elected to Business North Carolina magazine's Legal Elite for 2017 in the category of "young guns." In 2018, Ms. Edwards has been elected to Business North Carolina magazine's Legal Elite in the category of "family law." Fewer than 3% of NC's attorneys share this honor.
Ms. Edwards is a member of the Family Law section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has served as Co-Chair for 1 year, and Chair for the past 3 years, of the Children's Issues committee. She is a member of the Wake County Bar Association and was elected in December 2017 to a 3 year term on the Board of Directors of the Wake County Bar Association and the 10th Judicial District. Rebecca serves as a member of the WCBA Continuing Education committee, and is involved as a presentor for various continuing education seminars, such as the Wake County Bar Association and the NC Advocates for Justice. For approximately the past 9 years, Rebecca has enjoyed serving her community as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, advocating in court for children in the custody of Wake County Human Services.
Ms. Edwards lives in Cary with her husband, also an attorney. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her step-children, and her dog Teddie.
