Mark Guralnick’s law firm has gotten me refunds by writing to them, and when necessary, suing them. Many lawyers are afraid to alienate their corporate allies. No...t Mark Guralnick. If you’ve been burned, then he’ll seek justice for you --- no matter who the offender is. If you’re not sure about taking action, then my advice is, give Mark a call. Don’t put up with airline insanity any more!

After consulting with multiple attorneys, Mr. Guralnick was retained for a guardianship of an incapacitated person case (for my sister) in August 1st of 2016. While having the heftiest retainer, Mr. Guralnick was chosen due to his experience, knowledge of the NJ courts, process for keeping costs low,... inquisitive nature (he asked many questions). This type of case requires forms to be completed by two physicians. After a few weeks, the physicians stated that they had not received the forms. After a couple of requests, I was able to receive the forms directly on September 16th. Immediately I noticed that these forms were templated as my sister’s name and doctor’s names were correct, however, my name and my niece’s name were not. This might explain why the physician did not get the forms, or not. Once notified, this was corrected the same day. The case did not move forward due to the physicians not filling out the documents. During that process, my sister passed away on December 4th, ultimately putting an end to the case. At this point, I had not received a single bill from Mr. Guralnick’s firm. Knowing that there should be plenty of money left over in the retainer, I asked Mr. Guralnick if he could assist in the estate affairs. If not, please consider that message an official request for final bill and refund of remaining retainer funds. Mr. Guralnick returned his condolences and assured that he could assist with the estate affairs. My niece and I met with him in December on the estate case and decided to move forward. Mr. Guralnick stated that he would get the paperwork drawn up for the estate case and have it emailed over. This is where all the trouble started. After repeated email requests and multiple phone calls for status of the estate case paperwork from December 30th to February, my niece and I decided to move forward with the estate affairs on our own. On April 27, 2017, I sent an email request to cancel any business with the estate case and asked (again) for the final bill and refund of retainer on the guardianship case. This was met with no response. Numerous phone calls and email requests were sent from April to July with no response. It wasn’t until I sent my last correspondence, July 25, 2017, threatening to make formal complaint with the Bar Association along with my feedback here did I get a direct reply from Mr. Guralnick. His reply was apologetic, explaining staffing issues, and asked me to schedule a phone conference with him and he would handle my case personally. I responded immediately informing him that I did not wish to incur any further charges and that I did not believe that a phone conference was warranted. Again, I asked for a final bill and the remainder of my retainer. As of the posting of this review, March 26, 2018, I STILL have not received a bill, and no refund of my retainer. Emails and phone calls are ignored unless you threaten his livelihood. I really hate to write these kinds of reviews, but please BUYER BEWARE with this one. It all looked very good and promising until it was time to refund my money. RESOLUTION UPDATE: Mr. Guralnick reached out to me on 3/26/18 to resolve the issue, expressing apology and a commitment to improved client communication and accounting. He stated that an attempt was made to refund my retainer on 8/2/17 but was sent to the wrong address. I received my refund on 4/2/18 and have adjusted my rating.

We hired Mr. Guralnick initially because we heard he was always licensed as a private investigator, and our personal injury case involved defendants who could not be found, evidence that had been destroyed, and witnesses who were not willing to testify. Using his investigative skills, however, Mr. Gu...ralnick was able to locate and serve the defendants; then he used the defendants to persuade the witnesses to participate. We used the "spoliation of evidence" rule to force a settlement from the other side. I am definitely glad we did not choose any old lawyer for this case. Without this kind of specialized expertise and skill, we probably would have gone nowhere with this case. Instead, we ended up with a solid settlement in our favor!
