A cool lawyer (its possible)

So, I was recently helping a friend out who needed a lawyer so I looked up the guy who helped me out the most Dr Richardson. I saw the misdemeanor charge on his profile and was not entirely surprised. Only because he seemed like he understood where I was coming from when I decided to use him as my ...lawyer and I vaguely remember him mentioning it. That said he was on my side 100%. After reviewing the evidence of my case he told me that the case was largely exaggerated and would most get rejected by the prosecutor and sent to municipal. If it went to trial, and I wanted to keep him as my attorney he charges a set amount per day when he is in court. Calculating the worst case scenario of a full trial it wouldn't have cost me more than $7000.00 He never charged me anything over the retainer fee which was a lot lower than the other lawyers. He didn't use the scare tactics that all the other lawyers used (aka "Your looking at some serious time and Ill need 5k to just talk to you"). He didn't sugar coat anything either. When my co-defendants saw him operate all but one dropped their lawyer and jumped on the John Richardson victory wagon. One of the defendants only paid him 1/2 of his already low retainer fee of 1000.00. He didn't harass him for the money and at one point I wanted to pay that persons 1/2 because I didn't want Richardson to get stiffed. I don't know how he prices things but I was initially charged with one 3rd Degree felony and one 4th degree felony. A potential of 6 years in jail. He explained that If he didn't think my case was solid there was always PTI (which he wouldn't charge me for if it came to that). When all was said and done I got the equivalent of a disorderly persons misdemeanor and had to pay a 500.00 fine. Sorry if I bored anyone, I would hate for someone to skip this good lawyer because of that negative mark. If your in a jam this is your guy. When I retained him it was a free consultation.

Experience

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2003.

Reprimanded issued in NJ, 2003

updated on 12/11/2014

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.
