Fought tirelessly for me...

Martha represented me on a case that had the potential to destroy my life. When the prosecutors were unwilling to budge, she kept fighting for me until she convinced them that convicting me of a crime would not help anyone - even the prosecution. I could not believe how hard she worked to make sure... that nothing else bad happened to me. She worked with other professionals to help me and even consulted with another attorney. She never gave up and worked on my case for several months and pursued several angles. She spoke to me often, asked for my input, and explained the advantages and disadvantages of every option. In the end, she and the prosecutor agreed to settle the case so that I do not have a conviction on my record as long as I do not have any criminal convictions in two years. What I appreciated the most about Martha, however, was that she was kind and understood that a person who makes a mistake is not automatically a bad person. I also appreciated that she told me that when she gets busy she does not take on new cases so that all of her current clients would get excellent service. How many lawyers will do that?

Civil Disobedience

Martha Albertson represented me after I was charged with the crime of civil disobedience during a protest. I had never been arrested before this protest and being charged with a crime was very serious for me. I did not make the decision lightly to engage in the protest, as it did risk being arreste...d. While I was willing to go to jail for my beliefs, Martha worked hard to see that I would never have a criminal record. She negotiated with the prosecutor for a non-criminal disposition. I had questions and was nervous about the process. Martha and I spoke often during this time. She was patient, professional and personable. She made sure I understood my rights and my options, and she explained the criminal court process. She made it possible for me to speak on my own behalf in court in order to articulate why I felt so strongly about taking part in the protest and risk being arrested. I am proud to have worked with Martha. She is honest, trustworthy, and compassionate. Thanks to Martha's work, I have never been convicted of a crime.

Above and Beyond

Martha helped me out years ago on a civil matter. To keep the costs down, Martha explained how I could most effectively represent myself in court. I entered the court room feeling very calm because she gave me well researched information and excellent advice. In fact, even though I was the one or...iginally being sued, I ended up obtaining a judgment against the other party! I almost did not write this review because I have a close relationship with Martha. I decided that even though I may be biased, the results of Martha's advice spoke for themselves.

Excellent legal advice regarding scary neighbor

I called Martha when I had a very frightening experience with my neighbor. I needed to talk to an experienced attorney who would be honest with me about my options. I had a free consultation with Martha and I was very impressed with the her legal knowledge and the questions she asked. Martha was hon...est with me. She told me she could help me try to get a restraining order against my neighbor, but given the law we may have a hard time prevailing. She told me that if we did not succeed at the hearing, matters between my neighbor and I could get worse. I was so impressed with Martha, I was willing to hire her. I offered to pay her the going rate for attorneys, which I told her I thought was about $150 an hour. But Martha told me it may be better to wait and see if things died down. I am happy to report that things have become better. But if they get worse, I will be sure to call Martha. I really appreciated her honesty.

Highly Recommend !!!

I met Martha Albertson in July 2010.  I came to see her because I desperately needed help with a criminal conviction.  I plead guilty to an offense when I did not have a lawyer.  Later I found out that this conviction could harm my chances of staying in the United States even though I have been here ...for decades.  It also harmed my chances of becoming a naturalized citizen and could have kept me from working in the medical field.    Before I met Martha, I spoke to several attorneys, none of whom would take my case. Martha was always up front about the fact that we might not be successful at getting my guilty plea withdrawn, but she agreed to give it her best shot.   Martha worked on my case for many days.  She collected the documents I needed and spoke several times with my immigration attorney.  She also convinced the prosecutor not to oppose a motion to withdraw my guilty plea.    I am happy to report that the court granted the motion.  My guilty plea was withdrawn and I no longer have a conviction for this offense.  Martha negotiated for a continuance for dismissal so that once I have completed my community work service hours the charges will be dismissed.   My family and I are very grateful for all of Martha's help. She accomplished what several other attorneys said could not be done.

"Martha and I had an Order For Protection case against each other where my client was also charged with Kidnapping. Martha provided excellent trial counsel for a difficult teenage client. Our trial was very hard fought, but the submission of exhibits and objections pursuant to the Rules of Evidence of evidence were very precise and crisp with Martha. As hard as we fought for our respective clients, and for as much was at stake, we were still able to be very collegial. To me, this is the mark of an excellent trial attorney."

"Martha is a thorough, tenacious advocate. She comes to completely understand the human drama of her cases: she unearths facts the police missed, talks personally to witnesses (with a proctor), examines the physical evidence, goes to the scene. Somehow, she manages to combine single-mindedness with an extremely warm and engaging personal style. These qualities make her an exceptional negotiator, as well as a skilled trial lawyer. She does the relationships part of our business very well."
