Ad Litem- unprofessional and misconduct. Do not hire!

I was going through a custody battle with my ex-husband nearly 3 years after our divorce. After nearly 3 years of his absence he decided to file for full custody once he was re-married in order to avoid paying child support because his new wife( who was claiming child support from two separate father...s) advised him to do so. I requested an ad Litem through my attorney, and we agreed on Lori. What a nightmare. If I’d only known then what I know now, I would have never allowed this heartless, money hungry woman to determine the lives of my children. I filled out her paper work and sent it in to my attorney three months before she ever contacted me. When she did contact me, she pointed out to me the many times she’d already spoken and had contact with my children’s father. She was rude, short and not interested in anything I had to say. She even told me our first conversation would have to be quick and to the point due to the fact she had other appointments. Through her sarcastic expressions and rude interruptions, she made it very clear that she already had her mind made up about me. I emailed her clear evidence to prove my stand against my children’s father and she didn’t present any of it in court and even allowed him to get away without a drug test. I would never ever recommend this woman to represent your children and them be placed in her evil hands in court.

This review was posted by an ad litem parent who was unhappy with my recommendation against allowing her children to remain in her care, and many of her statements are false based on the record I kept throughout her case. She was asked though her counsel to contact my office in September 2020 when I was appointed to her case, and she scheduled her appointment for November 11, 2020 after several requests through counsel. On that day, we spoke for 30 minutes, and I recommended she seek counsel again, as her own attorney had fired her. We again talked on November 16, 2020 for nearly an hour, and through emails and via phone after that several other times. I also called each and every witness she asked me to call and read every piece of evidence I was provided, researched the parties online, and talked to the father's witnesses as well. Several of her own witnesses backed up my recommendation that her children be placed in the custody of her former husband. I also spoke with her former husband exactly one time prior to her first appointment with me on November 11. After a full hearing on the merits of the case, at which she was represented by counsel who presented evidence on her behalf that included her teen son's testimony, the judge granted custody to the father. I stand by my recommendation in this case and believe that the judge's ruling was in the best interest of the children. This is further proven by her behavior after the case was over.

Would not recommend

On the first visit with her, she said she could do everything involving my case for $1,000. When I came back on the second visit with the money, she had me to sign an agreement saying $1,000 was a retainer and the charge per hour $175. BUT she said it would still be under $1,000. I trusted her which ...was a mistake. Got a bill for the first month for $367! I had to fire her because the first six weeks I was charged $560. The case was just getting started and over half of the $1,000 was gone. It seemed to me to be a bait and switch with a false promise thrown in. She didn't always answer email questions but when she did, it was "I don't know" I don't believe so" "I haven't done that yet" to the SAME questions each time. She was billing for reading the emails and then for answering them, usually the same questions. It was not a good experience because I felt like I had been conned and my money had been wasted. Would not ever recommend her.

After a careful review of my client lists, I have not had a client named "Gloria" since opening my practice. Therefore, I believe this to be by another client who chose not to leave her real name and who was unhappy because I charged her for the actual work performed on her case, as per our client agreement. As stated in my profile, I perform free consultations for my clients. This client received not only one but three free consultations before deciding to hire me - all for which she was not charged. In this case, I performed the work for which the client was billed. The only answers to any of her questions that were "I don't know" were to questions for which no one - not even the judge in the case - would have an answer, including demands for the exact date upon which her complex case would end, and questions on what exactly all of the other attorneys in the case were doing on the case. The latter is not information to which I have access, as their work with their clients is not something that is available to me, just as my work on her case was not available to them. I perform at the highest level for my clients, and I also take pride in keeping costs as low as possible for my clients. There was no bait and switch. The client was given the information, hired me to do her case, I worked on the case, and then she didn't understand why she was billed for my services even though that was clearly explained in her client agreement contract and my review of the same with her.

Excellent Attorney

Lori is an excellent attorney. She is ethical, honest, and level headed. She is down to earth, easy to talk to, and never judges me. I trust her to have my best interests and know she will go above and beyond to advocate for me. You can tell she really cares about her clients and is driven by hel...ping them. I have referred many friends to her and will continue to do so. I cannot thank her enough for all the help she has given me.
