Biography
I provide personalized service to my clients. I work with them to establish a relationship of trust. I am always available when a client needs me. My goal is to make their experience, dealing with their legal issues, as stress-free as possible.
I am very passionate when it comes to children and divorce. My personal belief is that the children's needs should be put in front of either spouse's needs. I make a concerted effort to determine what is truly in a child's best interest and what each child's specific needs are so that I may represent my client while keeping their interests and needs of their child(ren) in mind.
I always encourage clients to discuss issues, when possible, amongst themselves and to mediate when possible. I believe that a divorce trial, in front of a Judge, in open Court, should be the last option, not the to go-to option for a divorce.
Divorce can be a very expensive and stressful process, but it is my belief that it does not always have to be so. Many times stress and costs can be lowered by simply acknowledging one another's points of views and wants and then mediating on what you cannot agree upon. I really believe that there is no reason to bankrupt one's self simply because one would like to get a divorce or has been served with divorce papers. I do try to keep my clients financial resources in mind as I work. I am very clear about how much things will cost, what costs my clients can control, and what costs my clients cannot control.
But, that being said, I understand that some couples just simply can't, or will not, get along and a divorce hearing is necessary. When that is the case, I remain a passionate advocate for my clients.
I also provide the option of unbundled legal services. This means that, if you can't afford a full time attorney, but you don't know how to draft a document or where to file or serve something, you can hire me for specific services only. I believe that every person deserves legal help and, just because you may not be able to afford full-time help, that doesn't mean you should not have access to competent legal help.
One last thing...if you are walking into my office, there is a good chance you are dealing with some of the most difficult life issues one can ever face. I tell my clients that, "Even if you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel today, that doesn't mean you have lost the right to smile."
So, don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing in my office. You probably will be surprised you can still smile but I promise that you can.
