Child Custody 50%

We help clients distinguish between legal custody and physical custody, and define their goals for negotiating each, keeping their child’s best interests in mind. We believe that where possible, reaching an agreement on child custody and access is best for children and families. However, there are instances where only the Judge can bring resolution to these important issues. Our attorneys have significant experience in high conflict custody cases in all Metro Atlanta Counties.

Dawn lacks the requisite empathy you would expect of someone in her position.

Smooth Yet Compassionate Divorce

I was very grateful for the attention to detail and compassionate listening afforded my experience with Dawn Smith. She is very professional and yet made me feel as though she also understood the sensitivity of my case and my concerns.

My Strength in the Storm

Divorce is awful. One of the most stressful and emotional things I’ve ever gone through. The one ray of light I had was Dawn and Sandy. Sandy was my first point of contact and the amount warmth & kindness she showed me was incredible. Dawn was equally kind & sympathetic. She was a stellar support to ...me and navigated my case with ease. I felt completely taken care of and confident with her by my side. It’s obvious she’s in this business for the right reason - she cares about people and fights for what’s fair. I will recommend her to anyone in need.

Did Not Standup for My Protection - Flippantly Spent My Money

Basically, they did not perform what they were hired to do, which was protect my interests. All that was done was "go through a process", promoting as little resistance as possible by continually encouraging me to "accept what was offered and settle". It seemed like the quicker the case was process...ed, the better for them, like it was quick money. For a total of $10K, I got nothing more than if I settled out of court. I was weak, a wreck and not able to think logically by the time I went into mediation, thinking that I would be looked after by them. I am a Construction Engineer and thought I was smart and I researched the best attorney. SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT EXISTED: 1) Although the Opposing Counsel said that they would write up the Final Settlement at the mediation, this firm took it upon themselves to write one up as well and charged me for it without consulting with me first. 2) Child support was based on ex's base income of $80K. However, documentation I later got copies of from my attorney after mediation (W-2s) showed total income of $100K. They took no note of it nor pointed this out to me during negotiations. 3) I showed documentation from a bank deposit of $10K that was a salary bonus that was not reflected on the ex;s income statement. This was ignored. 4) I requested this attorney to set up a conference call with me and the OC to negotiate some details; they refused. 5) At one point a court case was set that I was required to attended unless it was cancelled. I was not notified by this firm it was cancelled so I assumed I was required to attend. I took off work and traveled from PA to GA (where case was), only to find out when I got there it had been cancelled. 6) I requested to have additional wording in the Final Settlement to include that the house is to be sold if the ex is unable to refinance. They never tried. 7) They spent an EXTRAORDINARY amount of time in discussing my income/expense statement with me that was part of the case intake process. NOTHING from the document was used in the case. Yet, I paid for a vast number of hours with their cross examination and suggestions for changes/revisions. There were a number of other issues, but the above are the most tangible.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
