Brooke M. French

No one chooses to go through a family law matter as it typically causes disruption in the lives of those involved. Atlanta family law attorney Brooke M. French understands the disruption, difficulty and stress that often accompanies family law situations and strives to diffuse the rancor while guiding her clients through their legal matters as efficiently and compassionately as possible.

Brooke represents clients in all aspects of domestic relations litigation in Atlanta-area courts, including divorce, separate maintenance, child custody and support modifications, contempt, post-divorce modification and enforcement, family violence, paternity, legitimation, and prenuptial agreements. As a parent herself, she has focused on the needs of children in divorce and custody cases throughout her two decade career. Knowing that children’s needs are sometimes inadvertently overshadowed when parents are struggling, Brooke educates her clients about the impact their decisions will have on children. She takes a special interest in protecting children and maintaining stability in their lives as the family structure changes.

Brooke understands that each family situation is unique and gives each client individualized and personal attention. Because of the complex emotions involved, Brooke frequently utilizes creative strategies to guide a case to resolution. Brooke works closely with her clients to reach a resolution as she strongly believes collaboration results in the best outcome in the majority of family law cases – particularly those in which children of any age are involved. Brooke trained as a Guardian ad Litem nearly 20 years ago and is on the list of preferred attorneys for these matters in Fulton and Cobb counties. She is a civil mediator, a domestic relations mediator, a domestic violence mediator and an arbitrator. She is a registered neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Brooke also recently trained as a Parent Coordinator to assist parents navigate their co-parent relationship after their case concludes.

Brooke has been selected for several professional honors, including Top 50 Women by Georgia Super Lawyers, Georgia Super Lawyer, Georgia Trend Legal Elite, and Georgia Top 40 Family Lawyer Under 40. She is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent presenter on family law matters to legal organizations and local news media. Brooke volunteers with several bar organizations and has leadership roles within the Atlanta Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Foundation and Weltner Inn of Court. Brooke is also a founding member of Impact100 Atlanta, a co-chair of Friends of Underwood Hills Park and volunteers frequently at her children’s schools.

Brooke is originally from Massachusetts. She is still, and always will be, an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics fan and has indoctrinated her husband and children into the life of a Boston sports fan. Outside of the office, Brooke is found spending time with her family, driving carpool, attending her children’s activities, cuddling with their rescued pup, enjoying the company of friends, traveling or planning the family’s next travel adventure.
