    18 years

Craig Shapiro is originally from Northbrook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. After attending Northern Illinois University, he obtained his juris doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While there he obtained a Certificate in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Trial Advocacy, and was a certified mediator for the Center for Conflict Resolution. After clerking during law school for Rand Bragg, a member of Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates's consumer protection department, Mr. Shapiro joined the firm full-time. After six years at Horwitz, Mr. Shapiro left to join Keogh Law, a boutique class action firm in Chicago advancing the rights of consumers. After deciding to relocate to Raleigh, Mr. Shapiro joined the Law Offices of John T. Orcutt as the head of its consumer rights department. In early 2023, after nearly ten years at the Orcutt office, Mr. Shapiro chose to leave to open his own firm focusing on consumer protection and bankruptcy litigation.

He has spent his career litigating cases involving unlawful debt collection practices and credit reporting, usurious lending, and wrongful mortgage practices. He has been appointed class counsel in numerous class actions certified in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, and North Carolina, and is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois ("inactive" status), the State of North Carolina, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Seventh Circuits, and United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana, the Western District of Michigan, and the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina.

I would highly recommend Mr. Shapiro let me tell you why!!!!
I would like to say I would recommend Mr. Craig Shapiro anyday. It has been a pleasure working with him. I would highly recommend him to everyone I know. I had trouble after filing my bankruptcy with a company sending bills and just not giving up. The pressure and stress was more than I could bare. I contacted Mr. Shapiro who went above and beyond for my family and took a case against them. We received more than we could ever imagine. I've dealt with other lawyers that have truly dropped the ball in other cases. Mr. Shapiro Is a pibull and will fight for what's fair for you. He is also very kind and caring. He was always checking in and seeing how we are and asking about my special needs grandchildren which meant the world to me. He is a very genuine person. So if you need a lawyer that cares and gets the job done may I please suggest Mr.Shapiro...trust me I've been let down by other lawyers. Mr. Shapiro never once dropped the ball he was always ahead of the game. If you like someone who will keep you informed and communicates step by step he is the Lawyer for you. I've had lawyers switch up 3xs on me and I had no idea who was handling my case. Please keep Mr. Shapiro in mind I promise you he is a hard worker and a good person you wont be sorry. Thanks for reading!

Review for Craig Shapiro
Craig Shapiro represented us with a creditor . He was always very prompt and always kept us informed of his progress at all times. He was always very professional yet he was also very concerned about our well being. Mr. Shapiro never acted like he was too busy no matter how many times we called him. A Very knowledgeable attorney that I would highly recommend to anyone!

Mr. Shapiro went ABOVE and BEYOND all my expectations. He went to bat for me against a creditor who crossed the line and never stopped until he won the settlement!! Prompt, professional and always on top of things. Would absolutely use him again for any case I have!! Highly recommend Mr. Shapiro.

So thorough ....
Mr Shapiro was informative from the very beginning in explaining how a suit would work. There was never any pressure put on me, as he handled everything professionally and in a timely manner. I was kept informed, and if I had any questions or concerns, they were always answered within the day and in a very respectful and kind manner. He remained consistent in that manner until the successful outcome was reached! If you could hand pick an attorney for yourself, Mr Shapiro would meet all your needs. I highly recommend hiring him to represent your interest!

CRAIG SHAPIRO
Let me tell you. I'm old man from the mountains and to me and mans word means everything. These days it is hard to trust someone. This guy right here..Mr. Shapiro.. he is one of those guys you can trust. We had a special circumstance that came up during our bankruptcy. The law firm got us in touch with Mr. Shapiro, we talked, figured out what was needed to be done and off he went running with it. Kept us informed and up too date with everything, couldn't have asked for a better guy, professional and as a friend, could call or email anytime and he always made time for my wife and I. Seriously, can not say enough about how much this guy helped us. You need him on your side. Thanks, Allen

Craig Shapiro review
Craig contacted us after we had filed and been accepted for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy to let us know that he had discovered that one of the companies that we listed in the Bankruptcy had not met a filing requirement and that he was willing to pursue making a claim/filing a lawsuit on our behalf. He was very clear on the steps that needed to be taken and the information that he would need from us. He always asked if we had any questions during every call before ending the call. He was very prompt in answering our phone calls to him. He was very personable and took whatever time was necessary to be sure we understood exactly what was taking place. In the end he was able to secure a $2000 settlement for us. We will use that settlement to establish an emergency fund so we can continue to make our payments in a timely manner and have the security of a separate fund should we run into an unexpected expenses (car repairs, medical bills, etc.) He was awesome all the way through the process and we are most grateful he took the time to review our case and find the untimely response which benefited us with the added security of an emergency fund going forward. Thanks so much Craig!! Gary and Norma

Attorney Shapiro was amazing! He was our knight in shining armor. After dealing with some hard times he brought his knowledge of the laws, his understanding of our concerns and his caring for our feelings to assist in our battle. He worked hard and long to ensure the truth was brought forth and we were happy with the results. We would definitely recommend Attorney Shapiro to anyone who is in need of real Hero!!

Wonderful Attorney!
We hired Craig Shapiro to handle our case when it got beyond what we could handle on our own. He handled our case professionally, with kindness and patience, and kept us informed through every step of the process. Our case was settled to our satisfaction and we owe it all to Craig! Would highly recommend him!

Craig Shapiro
When an attorney we were talking to had stopped working at the company, Craig immediately contacted me and let me know he would be taking over. He always maintained constant contact giving us thorough updates on our settlement. I highly recommend using Craig Shapiro and his staff!

Craig Shapiro and team
I was working with Craig Shapiro paralegal and when she was no longer with the company, he reached out to me about a settlement that I was waiting on AND was willing to give me his contact information so that I can deal with him directly on the other 2 settlements that I'm waiting for instead of passing me on to someone else. It is hard to find good professional people in today's society and I highly recommend Craig and his team.

"If you are being bullied and harassed by your creditors, there is no better attorney to have on your side than Craig Shapiro. Craig is a knowledgeable, dilligent, and aggressive protector of consumer rights. Over the past 4 years, I have witnessed him go toe to toe with the biggest banks in the country. He is thoroughly versed in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the North Carolina Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (UDTPA). You have rights you probably don't even know about. Craig knows. If you're being stepped on, beat down, and want to fight back, give Craig a call."
