Professional, Knowledgeable & Diligent Attorney !

Thanks to Amy, I was able to evict a tenant that defaulted on monthly rent payments. Amy was very professional and took time in explaining the process and the associated costs. Amy gave me an overview of the time and effort it takes to accomplish the same. I hired Amy to help me through the ordeal... of evicting a tenant who failed to pay rent on time. At every stage of the process, Amy kept me abreast of all the pros and cons always suggesting the right course. It helped me make the right decisions. In the end she got all the legal aspects covered and got the eviction order from the court. She also helped in recovering the losses including the legal charges. Amy also advised on steps to take to avoid such scenarios in future. I would hire her in a heart beat for any future needs, which I hope I will not have to be in, if I follow her guidelines on leasing a place.

Beware!

I hired Ms. Olson to represent me in an eviction with a family member, which should have been a fairly straightforward and expeditious matter. However it was far from either. There are many things I could share about Ms. Olson's representation. However to place perspective, I am sharing the following... example that occurred early on in my case. After the 2nd continuance opposing counsel failed to appear at the scheduled hearing. As a result, the Judge granted the Order for eviction, which was the outcome I was seeking. About (45) minutes later opposing counsel arrived and her and Ms. Olson went in front of the Judge. Ms. Olson asked the Judge to tear up the Order he had just granted and he did. Opposing counsel had not entered her appearance and was allowed to represent her client previously and again on this very day Ms. Olson asked the Order to be torn up. Ms. Olson never shared any of this with me. I only learned of this when I ordered the transcripts because of mounting concerns. Ms. Olson was charging me a flat fee and her hourly rate would kick in if there was going to be a bench trial for the eviction. By her asking the Judge to tear up the Order, she ensured there would be a bench trial. After what was supposed to be the bench trial things became markedly worse as a result of her representation. The eviction was finally granted after (7) months. Ms. Olson not only exploited the fact I was out of town but displayed no empathy or urgency in an already difficult real estate family matter.

Not your typical lawyer

I was very pleased with Amy. This was my 3rd experience with lawyers and I found her to very refreshing compared to other lawyers I have dealt with in the past. She was very knowledgeable and always responded to my questions, whether phone or email, by the end of the day. In fact, she consulted with ...me several times before I officially hired her as my attorney. I became a bit emotional after the proceedings (we won, but my tenant said some disappointing things) and she was very supportive. You can tell she is genuinely kind hearted. I highly recommend her

1st Time Landlord Help

As a first time landlord, Amy was able to help us correct a very challenging situation. The guidance through out the process was very helpful and the outcome was exactly what was fair for both parties. Great advice and great communication.

Pleasure to work with

I had found Amy Olson while searching online for an attorney to handle a situation I had with a tenant. After speaking with her, I immediately felt a sense if relief. The situation I was dealing with had many different complicating facets. She was always prompt to get back to me when I had questio...ns & helped to figure out the best way to proceed with my situation. I had made phone calls to other attorney's prior to finding Amy, but they had seemed a little cold or maybe disinterested ( and charged more!) Either way, I'm very pleased with Amy, would recommend her to anyone & plan on using her services for future real-estate transactions.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I endorse Amy Olson as one of the best landlord-tenant attorneys in the State of Illinois. I first encountered Amy as opposing counsel on a pro bono case where I represented the tenant. She was extremely fair and clearly knew the law (both procedure and substance) more than almost anyone in the courtroom. But what impressed me more than her knowledge, thoroughness, and attention to detail was her humility and genuine kindness. As I continued my own practice on the landlord side, I was able to observe her every week and she never succumbed to the arrogance and swagger that often accompanies victory after victory in court. For these reasons, I referred ALL my landord-tenant clients to her when I bought another law firm and focused my area of practice solely upon injury law. As an attorney, there is no other lawyer that I would trust with the legal work for landlords. Incidentally, I never asked for or received any referral fees for sending clients to Amy. I do it because she is the best!"
