Allysyn Lesley Overton

My greatest regret is hiring Allysyn Overton now at Wade Litigation. Valid questions often went unanswered, and when I did receive replies, they were unfocused and did not address the issues at hand. Important deadlines were repeatedly missed, creating unnecessary opportunities for the opposing couns...el to gain advantage. Communication was extremely poor. I had to double-check details myself to prevent mistakes, and I frequently had to make corrections. Meetings felt unproductive, as though my case materials hadn’t been reviewed beforehand, which was both stressful and discouraging. The lack of preparation and clarity gave me no confidence that my matter was being handled competently.  Until outstanding matters are fully resolved and accountability is demonstrated, this remains a costly and unresolved experience. Considering the significant fees, I cannot recommend this lawyer and would strongly encourage others to seek different representation, which I ultimately had to do.

I had a pit in my stomach after consulting with Mrs. Overton. She acted sweet but my gut was telling me something was wrong. She reminded me of one of those psychics who says multiple things until one resonates with you so she can try to prey on that. I did further research and boy oh boy am I glad I... escaped engaging professionally with her. When I looked her up I also found that her cal bar page says she violated CTAPP recently which has to do with client funds and was not eligible to practice law in CA for awhile. Buyer beware!!

The consult had so many red flags. What should have been a simple matter to explain went in one ear and out the other. She kept repeating questions and getting things wrong, rushed forward with talking way too much, and even wanted to argue if I could get a word in to correct errors she had glossed o...ver. She recommended doing things to make a divorce more drawn out and contentious, and I got the feeling that it would end up wasting a lot of money and having to get work redone by someone else. After I checked a lot of reviews I got a feeling that I dodged a bullet and picked someone else who actually listened. I noticed she seems to pad her reviews with fishy ones from her own employees or friends.

My ex and I agreed to 50/50. My daughter Called me every night she was at her dads crying cause he’s meaner than AA snake. He’s also very connected because of his family. I thought for sure his connections would mean that I wouldn’t be believed in court. Allyson put my mind at ease by her thorough e...xplanation of the law and we filed to have my daughter be able to choose who she lived with. My ex hired a large firm known for being aggressive. They filed motions claiming technicalities and served ally with discovery in an attempt to bury her with paperwork. It backfired because she used it as an opportunity to collect so much evidence they were practically begging us to settle. Not only did she get me sole custody with supervised visits for him, she made my ex pay her attorneys fees! I didn’t even know that could be done! I will always be grateful for Allyson!

I have emails where she denies missing a status conference however, she didn't attempt to prepare me in the days leading up to it, or even mention it, she forgot to draft or file the SC statement, and on the day of, the opposing counsel had to send her a message asking where she was, an hour after th...ey were waiting on the court phone line. She recently tried to claim it was because the previous law firm I fired (because I didn't think I needed to pay big firm fees for a simple divorce) didn't file it, but I have emails from her stating it was her responsibility. One bill she sent me charged $750 for a few text messages with another lawyer. She refused to show the texts to me until I requested a fee arbitration. The texts were about that lawyer's wedding, their office's inability to manage time, and the fact that the lawyer scheduled a call with me but said she had no idea what to talk to me about. Allysyn seemed to have issues with interpersonal relationships with even her colleagues. 2 other lawyers stopped working with her in the short time she worked on my case. Allysyn also promised that another lawyer (with a lower hourly fee) would be working on my file during our consultation but once I signed the contract, she said the other lawyer left. Allysyn did things like making color coded spreadsheets for issues that didn't matter rather than ensure deadlines were being met and charged for this needless endeavor. When I asked her to stop working on issues that don't affect me and questioned the text messages, she spent literally an entire work day sending me emails threatening to drop me as a client - a few days before Christmas. Then, the very next day she said she decided to complete the MSC statement. She is extremely unprofessional and called me names via email. She cc'd me on an email to my husband's lawyer admitting that she hung up on her. She then refused to tell me what the phone call was about. Hiring a lawyer is supposed to alleviate some stress and not only did she add to mine, she made my life significantly more difficult. I feel taken advantage of during the lowest point in my life. In one email, she told me that I should be paying a higher amount because my husband makes a lot of money, despite the fact that I had no income and there was no guarantee of spousal support. I was clear about my goals during the consultation and she assured me we were aligned only to completely disregard them once I hired her. She attempted to charged me over $10,000 for a month of work on a divorce with no children and no debt - what should have been a very straightforward split of assets. When I questioned the bill, she inexplicably reduced it to $5000. She very arbitrarily said she owes me $500+ but hasn't attempted to return that to me either and now claims I owe her thousand of dollars, despite having an additional $3000+ over what she quoted. I'm perplexed by her bizarre communication. I read a few of her other negative reviews on other websites and thought that they couldn't be true because they were so outlandish but now that I have had the misfortune of knowing Allysyn, I entirely believe them. I could go on but I think this is more than enough to help anyone make a decision in whether or not they should engage with her. I ultimately hired another lawyer who advocated for me, was efficient, astute and charged very fairly.
