Outstanding lawyer, fantastic staff!

Tom and everyone in his office, including his son, who is also a lawyer in his firm, and his legal assistants were very helpful in every step of the way towards my getting my permanent residence status. I initially began with a different immigration lawyer, who actually did everything right, but I im...mediately noticed a difference when I transferred to Tom and his team. First of all, Tom and his team did everything in a very timely and efficient manner. They did a great job organizing our documents. No time was wasted in getting my paperwork filed. I was updated with e-mails and letters consistently. All our questions were answered in a very satisfactory manner in simple terms that we could understand. His legal assistants, Precilla and Rachel, were very helpful and treated us like good friends, not just clients. My husband and I were a little worried at first because the federal law extending immigration benefits to same-sex couples was still very new, but we felt very confident every step of the way. On my green card interview day, we were very confident and prepared, especially because Tom accompanied us. Even the front desk staff was great! We recommend Thomas Roach and his firm highly!!!

Good, Reliable, and Knowledgeable Immigration Lawyer

Tom Roach and his team are very knowledgeable with immigration laws. They helped me move through F1-OPT status to H1B. Then, when I got married to an American citizen, they helped me with my Grreencard process. Both times I hired Tom Roach were successes. Tom and his team are very helpful. They answe...red any questions and concerns I had and patiently clarified anything that I didn't understand. They also had solutions to help me out with when there were some glitches on my life plans (i.e. my work permit's end date coming up prior to my planned wedding date, moving to another state in the midst of obtaining my Greencard, etc.). His office kept us up to speed with appointments, deadlines, and what documents to prepare or bring to the appointments. If I need help with other immigration issues in the future, I will hire Tom again, even if I am in another state. He knows his stuff and is very reliable.

Immigration Process

Having been informed by friends and random contacts that hiring a lawyer would be beneficial for the immigration process, I proceeded to hire Tom Roach despite some skepticism about needing a lawyer for completion of the immigration process. As a Canadian student in America on a student visa I happen...ed to find a woman that I wanted to marry and proceeded to do so. While I thought the process of becoming a permanent resident would be fairly straightforward, some unusual complications from my past muddled the already murky waters of immigration. I hired Tom based upon his extensive immigration experience, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the service he provided. I appreciated the accessibility of Tom. He answered my calls, or returned them in a timely manner, and I was always treated professionally. Tom excels in his attention to detail, and serving in this field of practice for many years has equipped him with the ability to handle any situation, even if it involves unusual matters. Tom dealt with me in a straightforward and honest manner in all aspects of the process. Not only is Tom Roach the consummate professional, but he is also a great guy. I will always recommend him.

Dismissal of Deportation Order and Acquiring a Green Card

Do it once, do it right! I first acquired the services of another lawyer and wasted a lot of time and money. Nothing moved and nothing happened. I was in fear of deportation and dreamed of someday being a permanent resident. Then I found Tom Roach and his team, laid out a plan and guided me eve...ry step of the way. They updated me and reminded me of what needed to be done. Tom and his team were very comprehensive in preparing all the documents needed to get results. They were very professional yet conveyed an atmosphere of support and friendship. Thanks to their help, the deportation order was dismissed and my green card application was approved. I can now look ahead and peacefully build a future. If you need help, youll be in good hands with Tom and his team.

My appreciation to Tom Roach and his team

I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to Mr. Tom Roach, and his assistant, Ms. Rachel Bliss, for their help to obtain the immigrant visa for my wife. My wife is a Canada citizen and we got married in September last year. Before the wedding, we decided that my wife will i...mmigrate to the United States, instead of my moving to Canada and we also decided to seek a lawyer specialized in immigrant law to assist us for my wife’s immigration visa application. We are lucky to have Mr. Tom Roach and his assistant, Ms. Rachel Bliss to help my wife to get the immigrant visa so smoothly. The whole visa application process was a very pleasant experience. Their knowledge and experience in immigrant visa application and professionalism have earned our respect. Our trust to Tom and Rachel has increased with the time. I would like to describe in a little details about how they helped us and our interaction with them. Before giving our case to Tom, I have interviewed four other immigrant lawyers, three in California, and one in Washington State. Tom was the fifth one recommended by a close friend of mine. I was immediately impressed by Tom’s experiences and knowledge in immigrant law in our first meeting. He clearly showed me several different routes to apply for the immigration visa and patiently explained to me the advantages/disadvantages of each route. Once my fiancée and I made our choice, Tom and his very capable assistant, Rachel, explained to us each step of the application process and gave us estimate on how much time it might take. In the whole meeting, they were very patiently answering every question I asked. They used simple layman language precisely to convey complicated legal issues to us. A good lawyer needs good assistants. Rachel is an excellent assistant to Tom. She has handled almost all details for my wife’s visa application. Our communications were mainly carried out with e-mails. Her communications with us have typified by following distinguished characters: 1), when she needed more information/document from us, she always wrote to us earlier enough to give us sufficient time to prepare for it. 2), she always answered our inquirers within 24 hours. 3), her e-mails were always very polite and the messages were always clear and precise, left no room for misunderstanding. Her diligent and dedicated work not only reflects that she is a true professional, but also shows that Tom has a well organized and disciplined legal team which has earned our trust. My stepson is also a Canadian, applied immigrant visa with the help from another lawyer in the city where he was working two year ago. According to my stepson, he has never known what he would expect and when he would get his immigrant visa. “I was completely in dark”, he said. Although he has got his immigrant visa now, he was frustrated with his lawyer. Our experience with Tom and his team is completely different. My wife and I always knew what we should do and expect next step and when my wife might get her visa. My wife got her visa two weeks before the date as predicated by Tom in our first meeting. At my first meeting with Tom, he told me that his legal fee is not cheap. Judged on the services Tom and his team have provided, his fee is not high at all. My friend recommended Tom to me one year ago. I have no reservation to recommend Tom to my other friends if they need the similar legal help. Tang Chiao Ph.D.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
