I enjoy working with clients to provide a clear road map to their success, whether in business, real estate transactions or the development of an effective estate plan. Working as an in-house lawyer for small businesses has provided me with direct and first-hand knowledge of the work and drive necessary to make a small business succeed and the challenges that small business owners experience, as well as the issues that small business owners face with regard to succession planning for the transition of ownership. I approach client representation with the same drive.
I enjoy sailing, flyfishing and snow skiing as well as family activities.

I have had the opportunity (or not) to work with several attorneys in the past. I must truly say that I can only recall one other attorney who showed real concern, professionalism and that actually followed through with their commitment without having to be babysat (and he recommended me to Brett). ...

In this particular practice area, Brett showed exceptional understanding of the issues we were facing and good common sense analysis for arriving at solutions.
"I have just reviewed a lengthy, accurate, analytic answer Mr. Sullivan provided to an Avvo asker, customized to the asker's individual needs. These are exactly the qualities that any client would be looking fo rin hiring an attorney."
"I first met Brett in law school. We currently serve together on the Executive Committee of the Real Property Probate & Trust section of the Washington State Bar. He has valuable experience both as an in-house lawyer and in private practice. He is an excellent lawyer and I would not hesitate to recommend clients, friends, or family members to Brett."
"I highly recommend Brett. I have worked together with him on some matters and as opposing counsel on others. In addition, Brett and I have worked together on a State Bar committee. He is a hard-working attorney who represents his clients well, all the while maintaining a professional demeanor. Brett keeps up to date on new developments in the law and technology. I often refer matters to Brett on which I have a conflict or a time constraint."
"I worked as opposing counsel with Brett in a lengthy, complicated guardianship dispute. He fights hard for his clients, but is easy to get along with. He returns phone calls and emails, and is always well prepared for Court hearings."
"Brett is an excellent attorney. His approach is always thoughtful, trying to achieve the client's goals in the most cost-effective way for the client. Brett is also always conscious of his ethical obligations to his clients and the bar. Brett is considerate of his clients' emotional investments in their legal matters, but balances that consideration with advice regarding the realistic potential for various approaches to achieve the clients' goals. I have known Brett for 5+ years, and worked on real estate development projects with him for several of those years during the time we were serving as in-house counsel for different real estate development firms. I like Brett so much, both personally and as a lawyer, that I joined him in practice as his law partner in October, 2010."
