Mr. Bevan Maxey - "Great Attorney"

I hired Mr. Bevan Maxey, who was highly recommended by another well respected Spokane attorney. As a professional who earns a good income, I needed to know that I was being represented by a very knowledgeable attorney. My case involved a complicated family law matter 3 years after my divorce. The ...original divorce had taken two years of litigation and was very contentious and costly to me. To allow time to pay off massive debts after the divorce decree, I had filed a Chapter 13 bankruptcy which allows five years to pay off the debt. This precipitated numerous lawsuits from the ex-spouse that took close to 3 years to settle since many were frivolous and far reaching. As soon as the ink was dry on the Bankruptcy proceedings, an attempt was made to force continued alimony payments. There were loads of documents filed by opposing with great amounts of misinformation. Since there had been so much litigation through both the divorce and the Bankruptcy proceedings it became a very complicated legal issue. Mr. Maxey and his assistant Jeannie did an outstanding job of weeding through the massive amount of information and misinformation on this case. They did not miss a single detail, and provided great examples of case law to support our position and put a stop to this continuous litigation by a disgruntled spouse. Mr. Maxey and his staff were always very responsive to any phone calls or emails. They kept on top of the case from day one. It is obvious that the judge and other attorney's have a high regard for Mr. Maxey and his legal expertise. Mr. Maxey's billing is straight forward and honest. I would not hesitate to contact Mr. Bevan Maxey in the future for any legal matter.

Responsive, Intuitive and Committed

Bevan Maxey is by far the best attorney in Eastern Washington and possibly the entire state. His name alone strikes fear into opposing council. And yet, he simply does his job professionally without going into theatrics in court. He remains calm and collected under fire. This is most likely due to be...ing highly prepared. He is very busy, but when he commits to a case, he sees it through to the end making a thorough attempt to dot every 'i' and cross every 't'. He has an assistant who, no matter how much he pays her, she deserves a raise. She is on top of everything often returning emails or calls within a few minutes and never fails to remember an important reminder or to pass on a message. The most striking thing about Bevan is how personally he seemed to take my case. It seemed almost as if mine was the only one. If you want something done right, this is the guy you need to call.

Very unprofessional Strictly monetary gain Ineffective court conduct Forgets court appearances waste of money

I had a family law matter, Bevan was some where else preoccupied. Only acted after it was to late if at all. Forgot to show up for 3 hearings, Briefings and info were 5 min before court. (Upon him not being there 5 min before, had to call him up and he was 200 miles away in a different city. He did s...end a emergency backup atty 15 min late for court which was very embarrassing for me and the backup atty, other circumstances he had a replacement atty shortly after I called him from the court room which I was very disappointed about ) It seems that he Rides on his fathers name and reputation and is overly focused on the monetary potential of the case. Interest and performance are directly related to how much money you have. Positive side and there's only one, he has some minimal clout with some Judges and his office is just a couple blocks from the courthouse. He was never prepared and didn't even argue the facts that I submitted, It seemed he relied on volume, impromptu standard procedure tactics, and on his legal secretary (Holley) excessively to bail him out, She was absolutely overwhelmed to the point of being unproductive. She did try very hard to fix the mess. I am also partly to blame for expecting support and advice about law and not being more knowledgeable, persistent and proactive myself. Anyone getting any attorney should at least know the basics of law and their rights, so they know what to expect and ask for. I had no knowledge whatsoever and thought that's what you hire an attorney for (They don't have time to teach you law! Prepare yourself before you get an attorney either online or through the library). If you let someone do it for you, they're going to do it to you! So know what you need and want before your in front of the judge with your future riding in your judges and attorneys hands.

Forgets to withdraw when everything is done and leaves you open using him again

Bevan forgot to withdraw after I was charged with contempt and had gone to court. I moved to Idaho and had my attorney in Idaho file for a venue change and permission to move with my children to another state not realizing that a year ago he had never withdrew leaving me wide open to be accused of be...ing underhanded by Idaho courts and losing jurisdiction to Washington and ultimately losing all together my children.

"I had a client come to me after using Bevan on a domestic violence case that turned into a full blown divorce and custody battle. Bevan was very cooperative in helping me "get up to speed". In my work I drafted an appeal of the decision of the Commissioner before whom Bevan had argued previously. I listened to his arguments to this Commissioner. I found him to be calm and commanding, erudite and firm in his advocacy, even when the Commissioner was ruling against him and his client. I recommend him highly."
