About Tanya

Learn Tanya’s areas of practice.

I have always been dedicated to helping others in their time of need. Whether helping a parent denied valuable time with their child, a spouse going through a dificult divorce, or a client trying to get support for themself or their children, I am always ready to jump in and help you in your time of need. With care and compassion, I am here to stand by you, counsel and prepare you for the next steps, and vigorously defend your rights.

I have extensive experience in family and criminal law, which is especially helpful when cases cross over from divorce and custody to domestic violence and protection orders. Spending several years as a law clerk for a non-profit family law firm in Portland, before beginning practice in Clark County. I provide real-world advice to clients while successfully delivering results. I have represented clients in various family law matters, including dissolution of marriage, legal separations, child custody /visitation rights, spousal maintenance, child support issues, and committed intimate relationships (unmarried long-term relationships), as well as domestic violence and restraining order cases. In my criminal defense practice, I have handled an assortment of misdemeanor matters, including reckless driving, DUI, and warrant quashing matters.

I graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School and achieved certificates in both Criminal and Public Interest Law. I have had substantial experience helping clients with diverse family law issues during my practice. I work with clients to get affordable representation when possible. This includes consultations and unbundled services helping clients to represent themselves when necessary.

As a law clerk, I spent the majority of my time in court, gaining invaluable experience before judges in two counties. I volunteered with the Domestic Violence Coordinator’s Office and the National Crime Victims’ Law Institute during law school to learn the intricacies of the criminal justice system. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington with a double-major in Communications and Social Sciences.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring the beautiful waterfall hiking trails of the Pacific Northwest, or on a rainy afternoon staying in with a good book. Additionally, I can often be found volunteering at the Humane Society of Southwest Washington helping pets find their forever homes.

Awesome attorney!
Tanya is an awesome trial attorney. When the OP chose to go to trial, Tanya was assigned as my trial attorney. She is very knowledgeable and skilled at preparing for court and in the courtroom. She pushed back on the judge at the right times as she advocated for me and my rights and positions. Tanya listened to me and gave me good guidance throughout the several months I worked with her. I trusted her and she delivered for me.

Highly recommended
I hired Tanya for a family law case. Tanya is extremely knowledgeable and very intelligent. She hit every important issue that needed to be addressed during our court hearing. Tanya always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time and answered all of my questions clearly.

She truly cares for my family and case
Ms. Green is beyond patient and understanding. She truly believes in the client, not just the case. I have been with her for going on 3 years and highly recommend her to anyone needing family law representation or help in the Vancouver area. She is prompt, reliable, treats her clients and others with respect, and is very organized.

Best you can get!
Ms. Green is outstanding in her service and genuine and kind to boot! If I could rate her 10 stars I would. My experience with Ms. Green has been exceptional. From the very first introduction, she is extremely knowledgeable and intuitive. She answered all my questions with care and goes above and beyond to assist achieving the goals you have and really listens, which is extremely rare in my experience before Ms. Green. Ms. Green has helped our family with a difficult divorce matter that has been ongoing for over a year and only now has had some progress because Ms. Green has gotten involved. Truly! She has made it clear that she wants to help the best for our family and really makes us feel like a priority, that she is invested and cares about the result. Every response and action Ms. Green given has helped move my case upward and forward. Ms. Green helped my children's voices be heard, which is invaluable. After a year long battle with my ex- I felt lost and confused and helpless in my divorce and parenting matter and Ms. Green has been so helpful with each step of the process that I finally feel like I have legs to stand on again, when before her assistance I did not. If you are in need of a family attorney, I highly recommend Ms. Green and truly believe you will not find better knowledgeable care and assistance.

Great Family Attorney for Men's Rights
Tanya did such a wonderful job fighting for a man's right to have custody his children. Our family was in a very difficult situation that really pulled on our heart strings and Tanya fought for what was best for my children. She showed concern and was persistent to have the children in the right household and not just automatically the mother's house, which is so often the case. She did very thorough research and background checking to make sure my children were kept safe.

Tanya Green's Job Performance
I can easily endorse Tanya Green. She represented my daughter in her divorce proceedings, which I, her father, paid the legal fees. Ms. Green secured sole custody of my grandson for my daughter, which is what we were looking for going in. I found Ms. Green to be pleasant, forthright and effective.

Dont hire.
Tanya Green is probably one of the most non aggressive Lawyers I've ever had. She was never available when you needed always on her terms evenings. Hardly ever came to her office until late mornings. Never challenge the judges dissensions on any ruling. I would not recommend her for any case what so ever.
Response from Tanya Green April 6, 2019
Because I cannot comment on any specific cases, I will respond generally to your concerns. As a very busy attorney, I am often in court in the mornings, and often times outside of Clark County, requiring clients to schedule appointments to ensure I am available when they need to meet with me. Clients who walk in expecting immediate appointments often can't be accommodated because I am either in court, trial, or with other clients. It shouldn't be an unreasonable request to ask that appointments be arranged in advance. I am a very experienced litigator and do present cases effectively to obtain the best results for clients. As for being "non-agressive" and not "challenge the judges" professionals in this field do not yell and disrespect the judicial officials making decisions in your case. It simply does not help your case to mistreat judicial staff. If you are ever unhappy with a decision, then it is appropriate to file motions for revision or reconsideration, not to argue with a judge who has already made a decision in the matter. The law is meant to bring civility and respect to important legal disputes and ensure fair decisions are made without resorting to fisticuffs.

Bad experience
I hired Tanya for a family law case and she turned my pleadings in late and the judge didn't review them. I had no way to defend myself, with substantial abide nice. She refused to pay my money back and I lost my case. She is irresponsible. I would not go back to Her.
Response from Tanya Green February 18, 2016
I appreciate feedback from clients and also understand that the court system does not always deliver the results that clients seek as their ideal. Since graduating from Lewis and Clark Law School, I have dedicated myself to vigorously defending the rights of parents and spouses in divorce and separation matters and I fight hard to help my clients achieve their goals. Much of family law is dependent on how judges view the facts, but results are also dependent on the procedural rights and obligations inherent in the system. Sometimes clients choose to strive for results that are clearly difficult to obtain, given the rules and standards in light of the particular facts in a case. Although I always try to make clients well aware of my honest and objective opinion regarding the difficulties they may face, I am not afraid to take on difficult cases and fight uphill battles. Those difficult battles can sometimes be won, but lawyers cannot often change the baseline laws nor can they force judges to see facts in the best light for their clients. I can and do work very hard for my clients and put up a real fight to achieve their goals. A good part of the battle is also having clients provide documentation in a timely manner and working closely with their attorney to give them the best chance possible. While I cannot comment on individual cases, I am always willing to discuss concerns and individual results with my clients. I do understand, ultimately, that there are times when the fairly predictable results of fighting against an overwhelming tide can, nonetheless, feel very traumatizing.
