I was searching for a family law attorney who could help me either modify my parenting plan, or help me to get my ex to follow the court order. After reading her stellar online reviews and her bio on her webpage, I hired Ms. Swann. I presented her with my emails, docs, proof, and she agreed that ex ...was not following the court order. She sent him a letter to have him start complying by a certain deadline. But ignored deadline that she gave him. She explained its because ex did an unexpected kindness for me. Technically, she is correct. Technically, he still wasn’t following the court order. Ms. Swann decides not to file the multiple contempt charges. She opts to negotiate. We made an offer, they countered. We countered back. Ms. Swann resigns. She emailed me stating she felt uncomfortable handling my case any further, and gave me a two-week notice. Meanwhile, she simultaneously filed her resignation from my case with the court and opposing counsel saw it too. Per the email, Ms. Swann given me a date 2 weeks in the future as her final day. Yet, Ms. Swann refused to reply to my emails, voicemails, and had directed her staff to say that she was “in a meeting”. As a result of her resignation, opposing counsel ceased negotiations. Finally, on day 13/14 of the 2-week notice, Ms. Swann returns my call. She doesn’t have an explanation really. My account still had money in the trust. I cannot afford another attorney’s rates. I have contacted all the area pro bono agencies and have heard everything from “we don’t have the resources” to “your case is too complicated”. As a result, I have been left in an unfair position by her actions.
