About Kristi

Learn Kristi’s areas of practice.

Kristi takes pride in being very responsive to her clients and giving them the best value for legal services. Having come from a modest background, she appreciates that not everyone can afford an attorney and she works with her clients to ensure that they have access to the court system. She offers her services at reasonable rates, takes cases on contingency, and volunteers her time with various non-profits to provide access to justice. Kristi is a communicator and is always available to her clients. She timely returns phone calls and e-mails and delivers customer service that is unheard of in the practice of law today.

Kristi values drive and perseverance, which she has demonstrated herself both personally and professionally. Anyone who has seen her in action will agree that she has a passion for law and belongs in the courtroom. Kristi demonstrates empathy, humility, understanding, and compassion with her clients while also being aggressive for their cause. She is a quick study and easily grasps complex issues. Her presentation of cases is both personal and professional; achieving just the right balance for telling her client’s story while applying the law to obtain a successful outcome.

Kristi is kind, understanding, and professional, yet she is also an aggressive litigator that will not back down, especially when she believes in the cause. She zealously advocates for her clients and is driven to provide them the best results. Kristi works extremely hard and spends countless unbilled hours thinking and strategizing. Her clients are often amazed at her recall of the facts of their case, often telling her that it is as if she lived it herself.

While Kristi is a strong advocate for her clients, she is also transparent and honest. She will not tell you that your case is great if it is not. She also will not pursue a matter just to make money. Instead, she provides an honest evaluation and offers solutions for resolving problems. She is a strategist with the knowledge and experience to provide her clients with the best legal representation possible to meet their goals.

Kristi was born in Montana, which inspired the name of the firm, and raised there until she was 10. Her family then moved to a small town in eastern Washington, Davenport, where she participated in just about every sport and extracurricular activity imaginable. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1994. Kristi attended college at the University of Montana and Heritage University, graduating summa cum laude from Heritage University in 1999. Kristi graduated from college and attended law school as a single mother. She got married during her third year of law school and had her second child, a son, in May 2003. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in June 2003 and passed the July 2003 bar examination when her son was just six weeks old. She has been a litigator in the Seattle area, and has taken on hundreds of cases throughout the state of Washington, since being admitted to the bar.

Kristi founded Sapphire Legal in 2017. The firm’s name originates in the Sapphire Mountains in Montana in honor of Kristi’s parents. Her stepfather, Bill, passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in 2005 involving a drunk driver. His ashes rest in Montana's Sapphire Mountains. Bill was a compassionate, giving person, and was motivated by helping others. He would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need. Kristi’s mother, Lana, who raised Kristi as a single mother for many years, was born and raised in Montana and the sapphire is her birthstone. Kristi’s parents were hard workers and were very supportive of Kristi’s pursuit of a law degree as a single mother.

The firm’s name was also chosen because a sapphire is considered noble and is often worn by royalty. It is believed to provide protection and symbolizes strength, wisdom, and integrity, and it is thought to reveal fraud and deceit in others. With regard to the law, the sapphire symbolizes a speedy and just resolution. The sapphire is valuable and precious, yet strong, and symbolizes wisdom, integrity, and truth.

Sapphire Legal was established with these virtues in mind. The firm’s goal is to protect its clients and to provide knowledge, insight, and wisdom in every case it handles. The firm is straightforward and handles cases with integrity. Its clients receive a legal experience efficient in both time and money and effective in results. Sapphire Legal provides representation that makes it personal and about you.

Highly recommend
I can’t say enough good things about Kristi. She was the only lawyer who understood my case, and was able to resolve the issue with an acceptable settlement. Kristi has impeccable ethics, is as smart as they come, and will fight for you like a bulldog. I will be forever in her debt and highly recommend her for any employment related issues.

Caring and Compassionate attorney
Kristi was my attorney during a very tumultuous legal battle with a previous employer and if it wasn't for her I would have never gotten through it. She held my hand through every step of the process and is one of the most caring and compassionate attorneys I have ever worked with. I consistently recommend her to friends, family members, and colleagues.

Well worth it!
I was very wary to hire a lawyer on a pre-paid basis to process my appeal and rep me at the hearing but I'm so very glad that I hired Sapphire Legal! Throughout the process my paralegal Alex was flawless in communicating and keeping up on my case. I doubted them at times though as it was hard for me to understand why I didn't get to actually speak my lawyer, Ms. Favard until right before the hearing. But they assured me this was how it goes. They were right. Ms. Favard prepared me for the hearing flawlessly and without her assistance I don't know what I would have done. Totally recommend! Very professional and know their stuff for sure :-)

A Wonderful Attorney-Best Decision I Ever Made
Kristi's personal touch, communication style, and tenacious manner was a great combination for my case. I'm so glad that I was recommended to her and even happier that I chose to hire her. She listened intently, asked probing questions, challenged the perceptions and facts and went to work. Her writing style was tight and direct; she went for the best decision for me. Her negotiating discipline got me the outcome that was best for me and my family. I've already referred her several times and would not hesitate to do so again in the future. If the occasion came up again I'd hire again in a minute. What she charged was a lot, but very fair for the work she put in. She worked way more than the billable hours and pushed back to get me the result that I wanted. She even did some additional work that was needed pro-bono since it was the right thing to do.

Fantastic lawyer for construction dispute
Kristi and Alexandra are a rockstar legal team. Before signing with Kristi, I engaged a big name law firm in downtown Seattle that nickle and dimed for every call, every email. They tried to convince me that I didn't have a good case and should consider dropping it, despite my having copious documentation that the contractor violated our agreement and abandoned the job. I had to pay them a couple thousand for no results. When I talked with Kristi, she was unfazed and systematically attacked each of the steps involved in pushing the case through court deadlines. She engaged with opposing counsel and read their situation correctly several times, leading to a five figure settlement outside of our arbitration date. Not only is she a highly effective advocate, she and Alexandra are wonderful to work with. They are cheerful, approachable, highly competent, and speedy with responses. I just loved working with them, as much as one can love working with a legal team on a lawsuit. Working with Sapphire was much more cost effective than the big name law firm, too, even though the big name firm gave a low hourly rate for me to work with their most junior lawyer.

Calling Kristi Favard was one of the best decision I’ve ever made.
Kristi was a beacon of hope at a time when my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed slim and impossible. Not only was she able to defend me from an unjust termination, her calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional support to myself and those I care about most. My family and I are eternally grateful for her service and I hereby happily recommend Kristi Favard without reservation.

Rockstar
I've had the pleasure of working with Kristi on two different occasions now. What I appreciate most is her drive for results while always setting appropriate expectations throughout the process. It's normally a stressful time when researching an attorney. Kristi was honest, transparent, and delivered results. She guided me through the process and always kept me up to date during negotiations. I'm proud to have Kristi in my corner. Absolute rockstar.

She is a warrior, and I loved working with her!
“Kristi is absolutely the best at what she does!! She goes above and beyond to meet her client's needs, and is extremely knowledgeable in her field. She's a dream to work with - communicates quickly and effectively, is able to see the bigger picture, and utilizes creative strategies throughout the process. Kristi is an incredible advocate, and expresses genuine care and concern for her clients. When the need for an attorney arises, it can be during some of the most stressful times in our lives... Kristi recognizes this, and counsels with positivity and encouragement throughout the process - while still remaining realistic and professional. I highly recommend her and would love to work with her again should the need arise.”

Very Personable, Excellent Communication and an Advocate for Your Rights
Starting out, I wasn't sure where to look or who to talk to about my legal issue and I had the great fortune to connect with Kristi for a consultation. She took the time to really listen to my situation and I immediately felt confident and protected moving forward. She made everything clearly understandable and explained every step of the process. I absolutely made the right decision when I hired Kristi to represent me and I am very thankful for all of her excellent help and care. Calling or hiring an attorney can be a stressful, confusing and intimidating process but having Kristi on my side was a huge relief and she made the whole process very easy for me. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Kristi is simply scary
I hired her last year to represent me in a dispute with my employer. She took $7,500 and sent one email - ONE EMAIL! - to the company! After that she just vanished. Her paralegals (who kept changing) kept stringing me along, in the end after 5 months of being jerked by her I went to another lawyer who settled my matter within two weeks to my absolute satisfaction. She took advantage of me at my most vulnerable moment - $7,500 is a lot of money for one email! - while the other lawyer, who resolved my matter, cost me less than $1,000 total. The scary part is that, apparently, as I know from other people who dealt with her, she goes after those who complain: she sends them creepy legal-looking letters to scaring them. She also actually goes up looking into person's records on the Internet, looks up all your public information and then publishes on those people's Facebook, or LinkedIn or whatnot. Who does that? What normal person spends time and effort to "burn" the very people she mistreated??? Thus my post is going to be anonymous. This person scares me. Stay away from her.

Stay far away
Hired her in 2019 and she quit communicating and then randomly one day, I received an email she is withdrawing. Then slapped me with another bill after I had already paid her. Now I’m I. Litigation without any representation.

Takes your money and abandons you
I hired Ms. Favard to handle an unemployment case for me. She took payment and never met me. I was forced to work through her assistant who was very unhelpful. They scheduled a hearing with a judge and then disconnected their email and website. I cannot reach them and have been left to attend the hearing without the representation I paid for. Do not hire this attorney as she is derelict.

DO NOT HIRE!!
Do your research and look at recent reviews from multiple sites saying that this firm does NOT communicate or respond to any of your emails or calls. They take your money and run!! They do not care about your case at all. HORRIBLE and so unprofessional’

No stars not rockstars
I came to sapphire legal attorney Kristi Favard during a time of need and vulnerability. My employer was treating me in a manner inconsistent with a company employee agreement and was operating in violation of federal, state, and municipal regulations. Miss Favard seemed understanding and empathetic during my initial $750 consultation. She convinced me that for a bulk rate of $7500 she would represent me through letter writing and negotiating of my case against my employer. As my situation with my employer further deteriorated I at least thought that Miss Favard was working to back me up. She wasn't. She had initially stated that she would send a demand letter to my employer within weeks of taking my case. This never happened. She instead left me hanging out in the wind. Phone calls to her office were met with rude responses (Alexandria) or not answered at all. Pivotal emails sent to Sapphire legal and Miss Favard went unanswered and thus further put my employment in jeopardy. Miss Favard's staff eventually (5 months on) put together a demand letter for me to review. This letter was so out of touch with reality as to be laughable. When confronted with the notion that the demand letter lacked factual basis and was inconsistent with what I had been presenting as testimony office staff (Alexandria)became offended. Attempts were made by Miss Favard's office to shift blame to myself for their own lack of action. I was eventually unjustly terminated from my job and needed legal assistance more than ever. Ironically Miss Favard's showed a renewed interest in my situation once I had beenn fired. Because Miss Favard had delayed action on my case for so long I felt as if I was now stuck with dealing with her in lieu of searching for a new attorney. For her part Miss Favard was able to convince me once again that she could help me resolve my issue this time through a law suit. I was suckered in to paying her firm another $7500 to file a law suit with a promise of a $2500 refund from my original agreement with her office. 4 months on from my termination neither of those things have happened. Upon her failure to act as my attorney I utilized the BBB in attempt to make contact with her. Sapphire legal and Miss Favard failed to respond to the BBBs request for information. I have now reached out to the Attorney General of the state of Washington and will be filing a complaint with the Washington state bar association. Miss Favard is now in possession of $15,750 of my hard earned money and has never sent a single page of correspondence to my now former employer in representation of myself. I believe that if she would have stood by the terms of our mutual agreement that I would still be employed and my family would not be suffering. I only hope that it is not too late for me to find sound, professional, courteous representation to work out my employment issues. As for the 5 star reviews given here for her service I am highly dubious of there origin. Please look at google and yelp reviews to confirm what I suspect. As of this writing it appears that the Sapphire-legal website has been taken down. So shady! Kristi Favard is not an attorney that you want to hire and please do not waste your money on a consultation either.

Incompetent
WARNING Do not expect being informed or any type of responsiveness regarding your case. I have had a case open for two years and have yet to receive a single correspondence that Kristi had done within my case. I also had the misfortune of paying her upfront. Save yourself pain and aggravation and do not hire her or her firm. Alexandra the paralegal in charge of my case couldn’t even remember the company I work for. When I did call she would recite a 15 minute narrative and often include the wrong companies name to me. Red Flag

Worst attorney I've ever encountered
If I could give her negative stars I would. Kristi Favard is by a wide margin the most unprofessional attorney I have ever encountered. She told me mediations were required for my case by the Court, which she was then unable to cite and I could find no requirement for, while trying to convince me to pre-pay the mediation phase. She agreed on a course of action in my case to only later ask for 2X her original fee. She was over an hour late to our conference and got key details about the case wrong. In over 2 years she filed one amended complaint and propounded discovery, then went silent. It wasn't until I read defense's response that I learned they'd been trying to get a hold of Kristi to schedule depositions but she never responded. She badgered me to pay $6,000 for the dispositive motion phase to "file or defend any dispositive motion", no motion was ever filed and she claims she can keep the entire $6k. She abandoned me before the end of my case for asking about a refund and I had to represent myself to finish it out. She is extremely unprofessional in her communications. She also tried to get me to sign a liability waiver and non-disclosure agreement (she didn't want me writing reviews) without asking me to seek independent counsel. From the other reviews it sounds like she's done this to many people. If she got you to sign a liability waiver without telling you to seek independent counsel, you can make a report to the Washington State Bar Association, anything you submit to the BAR is protected. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your legal representation. I really wish I had. Read other reviews, her actions demonstrate a pattern of misconduct the public must be made aware of. DO NOT GIVE THIS ATTORNEY ANY OF YOUR MONEY!!
