After searching online and never having to deal with filing a court case, I was a bit overwhelmed to say the least. 2 relocation cases with a parenting plan modification. 1. 1 of my biggest issues with my last 2 lawyers was timeliness of responses with questions. Jorge was my lawyer and Kay was my paralegal. the response time with my questions was amazing!!!! Mostly within minutes to an occasional few hours. My m...ain communication was via emails with an occasional phone call. 2. Price - they use a trust fund which I like because the money not used gets returned after the case is resolved. the retainer fee depends on each case and varies. I had 2 separate cases which were 2 different costs each 1 was a relocation and parenting plan but 1 was an absent father and the other was a father who was going to make things difficult. I enjoyed getting a statement with detailed cost at the end of the month so I knew they weren't abusing my money frivilously. this added to my trust. because let's be honest lawyers have a bad reputation. 3. They were reliable and did what they said they were going to do in a timely manner. 4. Aggressive... when I needed Jorge to stand firm and be aggressive, he continued to give me counsel and guidance and when I let him know what I wanted he did it in a manner which got the end result. He did this in a manner that was professional but didn't back down and was a bull when I needed him to be. Even when I had my concerns he was able to talk with me in a way to help me understand what and why he was doing what he was doing and he was honest with me if what i was asking was realistic or not because at times I can want things that are just unrealistic. I knew that I didn't have the knowledge or know how and I had complete trust that Jorge and his team was fighting for my wants and needs. when you want to have someone having your back and fighting for those most precious to you ( my kids) this team is the one I would recommend hands down.

We made a huge mistake in not doing our due-diligence when we first started our custody and child support case. We initially hired a lawyer based on a friend's referral and boy was that a terrible idea. After spending a fortune ($30k) we realized that we absolutely had to switch counsel and that's wh...en we found Jorge who truly ended up becoming our hero and saving the day. Going through a family law legal battle is one of the most stressful things in life. It wasn't until we hired Jorge and his paralegal Lisa that I was finally able to breathe. From the first meeting with Jorge (which he didn't charge us for!), we felt confident that he not only knew exactly how to handle our case but also that he actually cared. I have learned that many family law attorneys become jaded and disconnected; likely because their jobs are by nature stressful and they are always dealing with dramatic clients and opposing counsel. Our opposing counsel was notorious for their tactics and Jorge knew how to handle them with such professionalism. The previous attorney we had hired got walked all over and kept saying, "I've never seen opposing counsel act like this..." That's NOT what you want to hear from the person representing you. Ironically, our previous attorney had more "experience" which I found out actually made him a worse representative. Jorge and Lisa kept us calm and focused on getting the results that were best for our child and did exactly what we needed them to do which was getting us to mediation. Our previous counsel had tried for an entire year to get the opposing side to mediation. After going through motion after motion and dealing with petty frivolousness with the previous attorney, Jorge came to our rescue and cut the B.S. coming from the other side right away. He gave me what I needed most desperately during this stressful time, the ability to trust that he had it handled and that he would do everything in his power to make sure that my child and my family were going to get the best possible outcome. His entire firm was straight forward about costs, actually even coming in a little under what we had budgeted. Lisa is the smartest Paralegal I've met and very empathetic with years of experience that make her a trusted confidant and advocate. I cannot say enough things about Jorge and the HIP Law Firm. I don't think there are many people who come out of these cases and think there are such things as "good attorneys". Jorge is a Unicorn; he's an honest attorney that works incredibly hard on his client's behalf. He's strong handed if he needs to be with opposing counsel but never unprofessional. He's extremely knowledgeable and in my opinion the very best representation you can have in King County. I believe that my family is going to be able to move forward, have more peace and flourish now that we can close this chapter in our lives.
