Mistake

I definitely do not recommend hiring Steve Hemmat. I initially talked with Mr. Hemmat regarding my family law situation and he assured me that he could help. I really liked the fact that we discussed different possible ways that we might proceed. Then I gave him the $4,000 retainer. It was sh...ortly after this that the communication started slowing down. At first Mr. Hemmat had some excuses, such as being sick or a friend of the family passing, and promised to get in touch with me soon. But when he eventually did respond, it was only to delay communication further. Then the communication just stopped. Two months later, when I finally heard from Mr. Hemmat for the last time, it was only to be informed by Mr. Hemmat that he was withdrawing as my attorney and that I should look for a new counsel. He provided a small refund of what was remaining from my retainer - but the majority of that was lost due to Mr. Hemmat's "researching" of my case. No attorney documents were created. No paperwork filed. Only limited communication in the beginning. And then Mr. Hemmat just quit. Not only did lose thousands of dollars to "research" but I also lost several months of valuable time. A very frustrating experience. Do not make the same mistake

Not a bull dog, will not fight for you.

I hired Mr. Hemmat to assist me immediately after I had been served with initial Divorce papers. My ex is a particularly nasty, spiteful creature and he did a good job escalating everyone's emotions with his slanderous and baseless accusations against me and my family. Mr. Hemmat frankly did not have... the stomach to separate emotional issues from rational issues at hand. I had suffered a few instances of domestic violence at the hands of my ex and Mr. Hemmat failed to provide me with counsel to physically protect myself (Protection Orders, Restraining Orders, No Contact, etc). Mr. Hemmat was unable to outline a clear strategy with a number of options by which we could proceed. I always felt like we were on the back foot, always reacting to what came our way. My ex's attorney was a bulldog and would continue to shower us with nonsense and Mr. Hemmat could not contribute to a strong response. Mr. Hemmat attempted to help me with the issue of settling a property dispute between me and my ex. It turns out he was not very well versed in matters of real estate litigation (as it pertains to a divorce, would've thought this was a common issue to be handled!). He ended up billing me for several hours of consult time with a real estate attorney who was in his office vicinity. I ended up asking Mr. Hemmat to withdraw so I could find a more aggressive lawyer. He is bright and kind, there's no doubt, but if you have a messy divorce or a complicated legal matter involving Real Estate, I would not recommend him.

It is vitally important to maintain a strong relationship between a client and attorney, particularly during contentious and emotional litigation. Breakdowns in communication can limit the effectiveness of any office's legal representation. Every client has a right to retain an attorney that matches his or her outlook, approach and perspective. This being stated, I believe that aggressive ‘bulldog’ attorneys often cause greater damage to a client’s interest by unnecessarily inflaming disputes, thus making it more difficult to resolve differences and reach an affordable and reasonable agreement. Needlessly aggressive legal strategies can often incur enormous legal bills for little return, and I take pride in my cost-conscious and client-centered representation. I am also keenly aware that parties often need to cooperate with another in the future, frequently for many years when they have young children. My job as an attorney is never to simply attack the opposition, but to respond while guarding a client’s long-term goals and best preserving their financial resources. Sometimes, that requires a more tactful and nuanced approach.

Don't use eTicketbuster service it will cost you

Poor communication resulted in extra court fees and a notice to suspend my license. Additional time, money and stress involved in resolving the traffic ticket was unnecessary due to outright negligence. I had to hire another law office to resolve my traffic ticket when it could have been easily taken... care of the first time. I'm being conservative with my negative review, trust me...you don't use their services!

I am sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. To ensure all my client’s needs are met moving forward, my office has not offered eTicketbuster services for several years.

First-Rate Attorney

I consulted with and subsequently hired Steven Hemmat with regard to a personal injury claim. I had been involved in a preventable accident while volunteering at a health care facility, sustaining multiple serious injuries. Steve filed a personal injury claim on my behalf. I was particularly impre...ssed with the way Steve operates his legal business with such efficiency. He is straightforward, gives his client at least weekly updates, and encouragement throughout the process. Steve possesses substantial legal expertise, plus he is a thoughtful, compassionate man by nature. He was able to bring my personal injury claim to mediation, resulting in a satisfactory settlement. I highly recommend the Law Office of Steven A. Hemmat to anyone seeking legal advice or dealing with legal issues. Steve will do an excellent job for you.

Steve is who helps you deal with the case, not become another case

Steve had definitely walked me through every step of the way through WA's very complicated "Parenting Plan" process and documentation, in the most simplest way I could understand. He's done such a wonderful job at always being concise enough to get his point across, but with most importantly keep...ing in consideration of what MY expectations were for my child through drafting the plan. Steve's intentions has always been trustworthy. Through all the emotions and heartaches that I've dealt with in the past and at current with fighting for what we felt was right for my child, he never once fell off track with an oversight. If it weren't for Steve's knowledge and impeccable service that he has provided, I would not be in a better situation, than I was before.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Steven and I worked together as opposing counsel for parents who had been at loggerheads in a child relocation matter due to years of acrimony between the parents. The acrimony had essentially made it so the parents were unable to communicate with each other or trust each other. I was impressed with Steven's ethics, care, patience, and professionalism in guiding the parties to a satisfactory resolution of all claims and setting the parents up for success going forward. I look forward to working with Steven again, and certainly would refer him to potential clients in need of an excellent family law attorney."
