Jane Dale | ATTORNEY, Causey Wright

Jane attended the University of Washington, where she majored in Business, with an emphasis in Finance, and minored in Political Science. She then went on to attend law school at Seattle University where she was a Moot Court participant and an editor for a law periodical. Jane graduated, cum laude, with her juris doctorate in 2007.

Jane represents injured or disabled workers with claims before the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. In her daily practice, Jane fights for the treatment and benefits to which her clients are entitled, going up against the Department of Labor and Industries, self-insured employers and retrospective rating group employers administratively and, when necessary, in litigation before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals and at the superior court level. Jane is a tenacious advocate for her clients, whether she is arguing her point to a claims manager or presenting her case to a judge or jury.

In her prior practice, Jane focused on felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, a variety of family law cases, some civil cases and even the occasional tribal jurisdiction case. Jane also worked as a public defender before entering private practice. This variety of courtroom experience gives her a strong footing in her current workers’ compensation practice.

Jane is an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ), where she has served as Vice Chair (2019-2020) and Chair (2021-2022) of the Workers’ Compensation Section and acts as co-chair of WSAJ’s annual workers’ compensation seminars. Jane is also a member of the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG), a national non-profit organization dedicated to representing the interests of injured workers and their families.

Jane has been named a Top Women Lawyer by Seattle Met Magazine every year since 2016. Jane was labeled a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine in 2010 and again since 2016. We hope this trend continues until she reaches the age where she is eligible to be rated as a Super Lawyer. Jane is admitted to both the Washington State Bar as well as the federal court, Western District of Washington.

When Jane isn’t in the courtroom, she can be found playing softball or tennis or, if she’s lucky, traveling with her wife.

Causey Law Firm/Team Review/Brooks Lynch
I contacted Causey Law earlier this year seeking assistance with an L&I claim I'd been personally navigating for 2.5 years. I originally spoke with Kit Case who put me in touch with Brooks Lynch. Both are para legals with the firm and Kit was leaving on holiday, so Brooks became my contact person. From the first phone call and contact with, I believe, Mike, in reception, every contact was professional, personal and encouraging. Brooks went beyond what I would have expected for a complimentary consultation. I know he spent hours reviewing my case; accessing L&I records online; and consulting with Jane Dale & Reed Johnson, attorneys at the firm. I never had contact with Jane or Reed personally, but in order to praise the other staff at Causey, I needed to put in an attorney's name, and Jane was gracious enough to provide the conduit for my review. Brooks was instrumental in guiding me through the final stages of my claim with L&I. After almost 3 years of hoop jumping with L&I, I was told the claim was closed and there would be no compensation in spite of their finding permanent partial disability. I was not willing to roll over and walk away. Every assessment I'd had contradicted with the findings of 3 separate Independent Medical Exams through L&I, and I was trying to insure fair compensation after 30 years in the dental hygiene field resulting in profound disability to continue my chosen profession, the assessment and advice Brooks gave me was invaluable. I was able to appeal the decisions of L&I and ultimately receive a more just settlement based on permanent partial disability. I had several phone calls and emails with Brooks, and am grateful for his professional integrity and expertise, not to mention his personality and genuine concern for helping me. In the long run I was only able to "finish up" with L&I because Brooks confirmed my plan was the best option to insure the maximum settlement for myself without spending many more months and expense on something that had already dragged on way too long. I would highly recommend Brooks and the rest of the team at Causey Law. I'd had brief consultations with others in the legal field concerning my situation, and this was by far the very best experience. Kudos to Brooks and Kit and everyone there. Fine job!
