A failed marriage left me with Order for Protection from my ex-wife against me since 2001. Initially it had no impact on my ability to possess firearms or to obtain a concealed pistol permit, I just couldn’t purchase any new firearms through a dealer. But in 2014, the Washington State Legislature... passed House Bill 1840 which revised RCW’s 9.41.040 and 9.41.800 and made it illegal for me to possess firearms. Because I hunt, teach Hunter Education for WA state and enjoy the shotgun sports, this well intended house bill became a legal issue that mandated the removal of the protection order, in order for me to continue to possess firearms. Contact with the Rhodes Legal Group connected me with attorney Alexander Savojni to handle my case. From the very beginning, Alexander proved his competence by being extremely knowledgeable about what must be done to effect removal of an order of protection. He provided me with the details of the five criteria which would be used by the court “In determining whether there has been a substantial change in circumstances…” per RCW 26.50.130. I wrote my initial declaration to describe details of my story; how the Order of Protection came to be, why it was inappropriate any longer and the impact to my life if my firearm possession rights weren’t restored. Alex read, edited and critiqued my declaration to reinforce the details that there “had been a substantial change in circumstances…” and to make my declaration a strong submission to the court. The court found in my favor and terminated the order of protection. I am very grateful for Alex’s expertise with this legal issue, the sound guidance he gave me, his knowledgeable recommendations and the legal representation he provided, which enabled the termination of the order of protection.

Alex did an amazing job defending me against a TPO. My wife left and tried to take my son while restricting me seeing him by filing a TPO in Washington. Alex was able to pick apart her accusations as well as the laws governing the situation and get the dvpo completely denied. I am so thankful I went ...to Alex and for everything he did for me.
