Robin's support made all the difference

Robin handled my discrimination claim with patience, kindness and skill. When we first spoke, my confidence was crushed and I was confused about the poor treatment I'd experienced. She helped me make sense of the situation and guided me through the steps. Her gentle approach reminded me of my persona...l value after having my self-esteem destroyed by a humiliating act of discrimination by an employer. I came away empowered from what would have been a permanent wound on my professional confidence.

Principled and bold - a force for women facing maternity discrimination

I wholeheartedly recommend Robin Shishido as an exceptional attorney, whose expertise, empathy, and tenacity were instrumental in my maternity discrimination case. As a senior woman in the technology sector, I faced unexpected and disheartening challenges this year. During my FMLA-protected matern...ity leave, a newly appointed male CEO began reorganizing the company’s leadership, significantly impacting senior female staff in favor of bringing in white men from his previous company. Amidst this upheaval, I was unjustly demoted and faced a substantial salary reduction. Navigating these circumstances was incredibly tough, especially while recovering from childbirth. After a disappointing start with another attorney, I was fortunate to find Robin. From our first interaction, she stood out as not just a lawyer, but as a fierce advocate for justice. Robin’s approach was a perfect blend of empathy, decisiveness, and boldness. Her empathy provided much-needed emotional support during this challenging time. She was not just a legal advisor; she was a confidante and ally who understood the nuances and emotional toll of my situation. Her decisiveness and clarity in strategy were impressive. Robin swiftly grasped the complexities of my case, laying out a clear path forward. Her confidence and straightforward approach were reassuring, making me feel secure in her hands. Robin’s boldness was important as she confronted this discrimination head-on with compelling arguments and a well-crafted narrative that highlighted the injustice I faced. Her ability to articulate the nuances of maternity discrimination law, combined with her passion for defending women’s rights in the workplace, was pivotal in achieving a favorable outcome. Robin helped me navigate a complex landscape, ensuring that my rights were protected and that I received fair compensation for the undue hardship I endured. Her unwavering commitment to my case restored my faith in the legal system and, more importantly, in my own resilience. It is without any reservation that I recommend Robin Shishido for anyone seeking an attorney who is not only skilled in employment law but who also brings a deeply human touch to her practice. Her blend of empathy, decisiveness, and boldness makes her an outstanding attorney and advocate.

Strategic, empathetic, and client-focused

As I suspect is the case with most individuals who engage civil rights attorneys, I found Robin’s services during a very difficult time, both personally and professionally. Even though I’m an attorney myself, I don’t practice employment law or civil litigation, and I truly had no idea if what I was ...going through was unlawful or just unpleasant. A friend encouraged me to call Robin for a free consultation, and I am so glad I did. From our very first interaction, Robin was professional, empathetic, and open-minded. Moreover, she struck the rare balance of being a good listener while also being sure to ask strategic questions to ensure she received comprehensive information about my situation that was as free from my own bias as possible. When you’re experiencing discrimination or harassment in the workplace, it’s hard, if not impossible, to separate the personal impacts you suffer from the legal issues at play – Robin is masterful at that task, but she never fails to engage with you as a whole person, not just a legal client. Robin was always available when I needed her, but never overbearing. She interacted with me respectfully and as a thought partner, but she also shouldered the load of the often-unpleasant discourse that comes with negotiating with an antagonistic employer. She was efficient about the time she billed to my case and always kept me in the loop. I could keep going, but in short, in a time that was otherwise quite difficult and dark for me, Robin provided a beacon of light, support, and skilled legal representation that brought me a far more beneficial result than I ever thought I deserved, let alone would be able to obtain. I can’t recommend her services strongly enough, although I hope you never need to use them.

So grateful

I reached out to Robin when I was unexpectedly terminated from my role during my pregnancy. From our first consult to reaching a settlement, she not only fought for me, but also made me feel heard and validated throughout. As a woman, mother, and person of color, I often question myself and my exper...iences; however, Robin took the time to listen to me and affirmed that what I was experiencing at work prior to my termination were not appropriate or normal. Her empathy and understanding really helped me feel supported and empowered during one of the most difficult periods of my life. Robin's dedication to her clients goes far beyond just legal representation. She cares deeply about the well-being of those she works with and understands the intersectionality of their experiences. Her advocacy on my behalf helped me to secure a settlement with terms that could help me move on. I would highly recommend Robin to anyone seeking legal representation. Without Robin's help, I don't think I would be in the place I am today, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.

Excellent, a strong combination of sharp lawyering and interpersonal skills

I had an excellent experience with Robin and her firm. I would highly recommend her and them. I contacted Robin when I encountered difficulties with my longtime employer regarding my established disability accommodations. After a change in leadership, my employer failed to implement the accommodati...on as required, and I was being stonewalled in my own efforts to remedy the situation. When I contacted Robin, my goal was to restore proper implementation of my accommodations without a lawsuit and, ideally, without souring my good relations with colleagues. Both were achieved. Although it was not a high dollar matter, this felt like a David v. Goliath situation, potentially impacting my career and livelihood. Robin was adept at handling my situation and took the time to counsel me about my rights and options; assist with highly-nuanced correspondence; and competently and compassionately listen, educated, and advise me. Her commitment to my situation was reassuring and helped lower my anxiety and improve my sleep. The process was drawn out by my employer (a large state agency), but ultimately we reached a good result, with recodification of my accommodations and an improved procedural plan going forward, to help prevent a similar issue ever arising again. With her unique combination of legal talent and emotional intelligence, I consider Robin to be well-suited for cases such as mine. I have no reservations about recommending her and trust she would be honest and accurate about her ability and availability to help someone.
