also known as Pete Sisson
Peter C. Sisson founded the Boise law firm Sisson & Sisson, the Elder Law Firm, PLLC in 1992. He has been a practicing lawyer since 1988. His law practice emphasizes a holistic and comprehensive legal practice approach to the issues seniors face as they age. Pete's elder law practice anticipates and provides legal services to the firm’s clients as their circumstances and health care needs change. The firm establishes long-standing relationships with clients and families so that on-going services are provided with continuity. Pete’s law practice includes: Medicaid and VA Benefits Planning, Elder Care Focused Estate Planning, Asset Protection Planning, Special Needs Trust Planning, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and Probate & Trust Administration.
In 2014, Pete merged his elder law practice with Ahrens DeAngeli Law Group LLP. Ahrens DeAngeli specializes in wealth, asset protection and tax/estate planning. The newly formed firm is uniquely positioned to help families protect assets no matter whether the concern is addressing long-term care costs, business liabilities or more complex estate/tax issues.
Pete is an Accredited Estate Planner Emeritus and is an Accredited Veteran Attorney by the Department of Veteran's Affairs. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Past-President and Board Member of The Idaho Quality of Life Coalition (formerly the Idaho End of Life Coalition, the Idaho State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and The Better Way Coalition) and a member of the Idaho State Bar Section on Taxation, Probate, and Trust Law.
He has in the past served on or currently serves on the board of directors for numerous local organizations including: the Idaho chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, SunHealth Behavioral Systems (a psychiatric hospital), The Better Way Coalition, and the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association.
He is licensed to practice law in Washington, Idaho, California and Montana. He received his law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, graduating Order of the Coif, an honor awarded to those who are in the top 10% of their law school class.
Pete regularly published educational articles and lectures on the legal, financial and health issues experienced by families who are dealing with a spouse or parent’s long-term care needs. He has presented to a variety of groups including: AARP, the Governor's Conference on Aging, Idaho Roundtable (financial professionals), The Idaho Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, The Idaho Society of CPAs, A Better Way Coalition, Idaho Alzheimer's Association, Stand By You (Area Agency on Aging and Idaho Commission on Aging joint project), Boise Estate Planning Council, Treasure Valley Estate Planning Council, University of Idaho's Cooperative Extension System, the Idaho Young President's Organization and various support groups. He also has presented numerous continuing education courses for health, legal and financial professionals.
Pete now lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Rosalie. They have two daughters, Allie and Mimi, two dogs, and one cat.
Pete feels incredibly lucky to be able to assist seniors and their families as his life’s work. Since moving to Washington, Pete has created The Long-Term Care Project, a pro bono legal clinic offering representation to low income/low resource seniors under the auspices of Senior Rights Assistance, a program of the non-profit organization Sound Generations.
