My practice focuses on employment law, criminal law, and a variety of other matters. I am know to fight hard and passionately, but smartly and efficiently, for my clients.
Prior to joining MacDonald Hoague & Bayless, I was a partner at McNaul Ebel Nawrot & Helgren in Seattle. Before that and after law school, I clerked for the Hon. Robert M. Parker at the U.S. District Court and Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals; served in Washington D.C. as Counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee (where my responsibilities included antitrust and labor law issues associated with investigative hearings and legislation concerning the Major League Baseball work stoppage/player-owner impasse of 1994); and was the Legislative Director and Counsel to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
I am a past-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Washington State Bar Association Labor & Employment Section. I also served two terms on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
I am the author of numerous articles on employment law, criminal litigation, civil litigation, and intellectual property issues, including articles that have been cited in judicial opinions and other legal authorities. And I am a frequent speaker at legal seminars, locally and nationally. In addition, I have made numerous media appearances on legal issues, including CNN’s “Burden of Proof,” National Public Radio’s “Talk of the Nation,” Pacifica Radio’s “Democracy Now,” Newsweek, and Legal Times.
