Focus on settlements

Mr. Johnson is an ideal attorney for clients seeking to settle their cases as he does a good job in bringing both parties to the negotiation table. As you can see from the profile posted on his firm's website, most of the cases listed there are settled. However, my impression of working with this l...awyer is that he is more risk adverse than average people, and possibly a lot more than other lawyers in his field. Therefore, unless the case is absolutely one-sided in your favor, it is not likely he will feel confident enough to take it to trial even though he would try to negotiate it on your behalf during a mediation. The positive is you stand a good chance recovering some money but just don't expect a lot or necessarily fair number. Another potential issue is other opposing lawyers, likely know or familiar with Mr. Johnson's temperment and his risk averseness will capitalize on that and and try to force settlements with fairly low numbers.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I litigate against Dan frequently in class action litigation. Dan is extremely bright, an exceptional writer and oral advocate, and willing to go the distance for his clients. In fact, I know of at least one recent case that he took to trial twice (five years apart), and he obtained a major award for his client. Let me put it this way: if I needed a Plaintiff's lawyer, I'd call Dan."

"I endorse this lawyer. Dan Johnson is as sharp as they come, with strong instincts and a tireless work ethic. His experience in all sorts of litigation, but especially employment matters, gives him valuable perspective and a strategic edge. I have found his advice to be sound, carefully considered, and perceptive. I strongly recommend him for any type of civil matter."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
