In May 2017 my condo had a water leak in the kitchen. The leak was originating from the unit upstairs. After months of stall tactics by the HOA and HOA's insurance company I know I needed to take action. A friend of my referred me to Dave Von Beck "AKA the Hammer". During a kitchen remodel, we found major water intrusion damage to one of the units of our small, four-unit condominium. When our insurance company denied our claim we hired Levy, von Beck and Comstock to go to battle for us. We worked directly with Dave von Beck. He's the ultimate expert and he's probably the most responsive and detailed professional I've ever dealt with. If I called, he'd take my call in the middle of a meeting. He answered my emails over the weekend. Everything he said was clear and made sense. He could cite and interpret crucial pieces of information in copious pages of technical engineering reports. He really shepherded us through a process that was far more complicated than we imagined. We were a small informal HOA, with no experience in dealing with anything this serious. His attention never wavered from this project, he was clearly "all in" with us. Additionally Dave has built close relationships with all the key players: He knew our insurance companies lawyer, he already knew and worked with the construction company that we chose to do the repairs. He knew when to call in an engineer and he knew and educated us (along with the excellent Katie Comstock) on condo laws that we were unaware of. He understands and speaks construction at all aspects, practical and legal. He became the hub of information, pulled everything together and kept everything moving forward. Dave is a straight-shooter, ethical and trustworthy while also being persuasive and a real bulldog. And the bottom line: he got our insurance company to pay for both the investigative work and all of the repair! I can't recommend him enough. A life saver!

We hired Dave after talking to a handful of very highly rated attorneys. Dave is calm, to the point and a take charge kind of guy. After wrangling with the builder myself for over a year and a half, we realized we were only hearing non-truths & empty promises. In less than a month after hiring Dave, ...we had a signed agreement with the builder. We had to take payments from the builder, but we did get the agreed upon amount, a little over half of our out of pocket expenses, but our nightmare is over. I wish we would have found/hired Dave sooner! My best advise is; VET THE BUILDER FIRST and avoid the nightmare. But if you do find yourself in a construction defect situation, by all means, call Dave von Beck.
