Not the best candidate for child custody matters

I hired Lloyd to assist me with my custody case a couple years ago. Being a young parent, I wasn't really sure of what to expect of a lawyer and/or what I needed to do on my end. I just knew I was putting forth a good deal of money in hopes to have an outcome that was most beneficial for my child. To... start off positive, I came to Lloyd with a mess of paperwork and court deadlines quickly approaching. He was able to get me caught up with the paperwork that was just too much for me to comprehend. Now, I never met Lloyd once in person. There were times I would call and I would have to remind him of the case/who I was because he didn't know me by name or any of the involved parties for that matter. It felt very cold. I could've dealt with the previous issues because I wasn't paying him to be my friend but I couldn't get past the lack of explanation, lack of information, and the failure to obtain highly important information. My child is soon to start school so we will be amending the current parenting plan. Long awaited since tons of important details were left out of the plan that Lloyd assisted me with. He never even obtained my exes W2's. Instead as I was looking through the paperwork I noticed that Lloyd had input my exes income $12,000+ less than it was. When I called to talk to Lloyd about this he told me that was the figure I must have given him. Being as young as I was I didn't catch the mistakes and I really didn't pay much attention to the lack of information or detail but as the years have gone by I've noticed more and more areas where Lloyd dropped the ball. Before noticing the mistakes, I even recommended a family member to him. He has never met Lloyd either, paperwork is not detailed, responses are not quick, it's very unfortunate. Since you are dealing with something so important and sensitive as child custody, I think a lawyer needs to be 100% on his game. I think he should also meet his clients face to face. I have no idea what the man looks like.

I am always sensitive to client's requests. It seems that this client did not appreciate the effort but acknowledges she came to me with a "mess of paperwork and court deadlines quickly approaching." This statement is very telling for lawyers as they are cautioned from taking cases when deadlines are near. It is also becoming more common that the attorney and the client do not meet in person. The electronic age has been the cause. Good or bad it is becoming the rule. I am sorry the client is now addressing her concerns about my performance but I do not see that I did anything wrong and a settlement must have been reached. Hopefully any potential client reading her comments will insist on meeting his/her attorney in person and have a clear idea of the lawyers scope of employment. I am also sorry the client did not send me the complaints and chose to be anonymous.
