Regarding being the respondent in a DVPO case. Liza is the best counsel I have ever retained! You cannot go wrong with Liza Burke, multiple attorney's referred me to her as being one of the best in the field, you could tell she is highly respected. I came to h...er after a botched recommendation from a different attorney to represent myself in my civil protection order hearing, which did not turn out in my favor. From the moment I spoke with her I could tell I was in a good hands and that she genuinely cared. Liza laid out all my appeal options; she was transparent and honest about the timeline and what she believed my options/chances were. I appreciated her candor in this situation as she carefully reviewed the details of my case and how to best approach it despite it being an uphill battle. She was communicative and engaged with me through the whole process and kept me updated the whole way because she knew that put me at ease. Liza remained a dedicated and meticulous protection order attorney, and did not give up on my case even though it was very tricky. She worked to put my case in front of a Judge and made sure my Motion for Revision was as strong as possible which ended up proving successful for us! Then months later, with careful planning and strategizing, filed a Motion to Terminate and won that as well! I am so incredibly happy that I went to Liza and that she fought SO hard to help me! My only regret is that I did not go to her from the start, if I had, I am sure she would have had this dismissed. Liza was attentive from day one, she was in control of deadlines and mandates, and was also diligent about preparing me for the next step throughout the process. Liza was very easy to work and communicate with, she was predictable, reliable, and a calm voice of reason in my time of uncertainty. ... I had a total of 3 court appearances. At no point did I say more than my name due to circumstance. Outside of the hours spent both waiting, and appearing in court, I could tell Liza had been both vested in and diligent with her preparation. Her ability to express my emotions surrounding the event(s) was one of the things I was very happy with.
